I must say it felt good- after reading all the posts here about the G35 is a better option overall than the type S- Thats crap this TL is sweet.
I pulled up to the light and there he was. Also, upon pulling up to the light behind him I noticed how unattractive the back end of the G35 is.
He smiled when he looked over and then at his bighaired girlfriend. We nailed it and I was eight inches to a foot ahead the whole time. We had to slow as the local community police station was approaching on our right. If anything they are both great cars and the TL is much sexier of a looking ride than the G35. (Needless to say the poodle in his front seat-):yack:
We have an overall great vehicle!!

Ehh, the car looked bad at the autoshow when they had that nice wax on it. But damn, I saw a black one today and almost :yack: The car looks ridiculous, that shape should be given to one of those electric cars.
It doesn't look aggressive from the front like our TL's it look horrible from the back. The spoiler looks like someone put a boomerang on a Toyota Corolla.
Bottom line, "I wouldn't hit it even if she had a bag over her head"

Yikes!
Yeah, the G35 might be a nice car, but it sure is Fugly! What's with the 2 foot high bumper on the back!
The one thing that I do seem to notice lately, though, is that the newly redesigned luxury sports cars have the "vertical" headlight design. That trend may date our current TL-S as an older generation model sooner than we may like. I wonder if Acura will put "vertical" headlights on the redesigned 2004 model???
I used to think that the vertical headlights looked stupid, but I'm kind of getting used to them now as the "new look"... I hope they don't catch on with EVERY manufacturer to the point of making our current TL-S seem FUGLY a couple of years from now???

i think the vertcal headlight design is a trendy thing like the clear taillights thing that's been catchy.
does our taillights or horizontal headlights mean our car is "dated", hell no it just means that acura doesn't think it needs to be trendy like nissan/infiniti (btw, not that many automakers have clear tailights or vertical headlights).

Day, i'm not surprised that you beat the G35..that car is simply NOT any faster than a TLS(Car and Driver can back up any of us on that)..Not only that, but while you were beating him, you looked a million times better going down that street than the fool in that really UGLY G35.
#21
So basically you beat an unbroken in G35 with two passengers. The TL-S does 0-60 in 6.4secs on average. 6.1 was the fastest ever. the G35 does 0-60 in 6.2 secs on average. I am pretty sure the G35 is the faster car.
P.S. Did your transmission get hung or fall out while racing, lolol, sorry man just had to slip that in there.
Does anybody know if the RL and '99 Tl have the same 4spd autos?

ES300 vertical headlights too. Please do not make the next TL with vertical headlights.

I test drove the G35, since my girlfriend has a G20 and wanted to buy a G35. I like the interior/handling/engine. A very good overall car just like the TL. I just can't help that is so ugly :yack:
On the test drive the G35 did not seem as fast as the Type S.

Children, children. Who would think other car enthusiasts would cut down another's car with such vain attempts!!??!?!?!? Maybe jealous that we have the most up-to-date vehicle and you don't (NOT POINTING FLAMING FINGERS BUT I THINK YOU CAN SEE WHOM I'M SPEAKING WITH ON ABOVE POSTS). Mine is the blue G up top in one of the earlier posts... I used to be on this forum as you can see from my thread count.. I was debating on a few cars, but in the end, I loved the G the most.
Why must you cut others down guys.. I know not all of you are guilty of this, and probably wouldn't post in this thread because it started with a few bad apples. Get over it to those of you who must throw words around.. you can have a different car than us..it's the American way.. be happy, quit with the back slapping.. Kevin

now i guess that one car determines what the average is then, huh?

Being in the TX area, maybe we can arrange a meeting out in Ennis (dragstrip) for a GENTLEMENS comparison.. I'd really like to see how the two cars compare.
PLEASE only stock cars.. I'm game. I know how the TL drives, I almost bought one... but as you can see I'm in the G35 now, and VERY proud I waited... just didn't want to get a TL Type S if they're going to be dated in 04.
nick79, I'd like to see nicer pictures. Is that your age or IQ?

Seriously, it makes me wonder what the true 0-60 MPH is when even edmunds.com got 6.1. Anxiously wating for that old coot in MSN auto to drive it... let's see if he can break 7.0 Yeah!!!! :p

and who's calling who dumb?
jeez...i like it when new people come and start insulting others and calling them dumb.
shows the maturity of these people.

The G35, to my surprise, you can load it up beyond $37K.:wow:
I think the looks of the G35 is subjective...I personally don't like ti too much, but on the other hand, don't think the looks of the TLS is God's gift to the autoworld.
The interior of the G35 felt more luxurious than the Acura one, this too is subjective. I like the fact that the rear seats could recline.
Having driven the CLS 6spd, which I thought was a pretty big dissapointment, was hands down worse than the G35 in terms of power response and handling.
The back seats of the G35 is not too roomy IMO.
As far as G35 feeling not as fast as the TLS, I can certainly see that. The TLS engine screams at higher RPM, thus giving you the illusion it's flying. Compared to my much more quiet 540, one would think that the TLS was noticeably faster.
The TLS are selling like hot cakes here in the DC area and no much room for negotiations on them. I don't truly have an opinion of the G35 yet, maybe in 6 months or so to see what issues or problems they have etc.
I love NovaWhiteTypeS's CLS, and enjoy driving it every chance I get, so I am still a huge fan of Acura's performance and for the buck, how do you beat it?
BTW, I though my 540's tranny had the "Acura TLSitis", turned out it was just a software issue...Whewww.

All you tls fanboys need to get over it.
Tls is a great car, but sorry to say its yesterdays news.
The G35 is technically more advanced than the tls.
They is no sense in bashing that car, give props where props are due. simple as that. If the redesigned tls rumored to come out in 2004 is better than the G35 then we can talk smack then.
Until then quit whining.
No wonder people at freshalloy are laughing at us.

t says "newbie".
why are the newbie's such ****s all the time?
BECAUSE these newbies r G35 luvers or owners and they don't like TL guys saying crappy things abt their "wife".
remember Q45 falsely posted 0-60 speed time? I wonder if it's throughout the infiniti line..
I'll believe G35 is faster than TL-S is when i get beaten by one.
stock to stock.
If G35 is a great car....let's see it outsell TLs

ON ANOTHER NOTE:
if G35 , a NEWER and BETTER car... with close 50/50 weight ratio, REAR wheel drive and 260HP with 260 TORQUE...is averaging only .2 second faster to the TL-S in 0-60....that's just plainly SAD
TL-S that doesn't have a close 50/50 weight ratio and a FRONT wheel drive with only 232 TORQUE.. and can reach that speed...I'm really amazed with the achievements that HONDA has made..
