Wink Beat a 3g TL yesterday . . . wait, that was my wife!

Not to worry, I told her that when the time came, all she had to do is keep the pedal to the floor. She drives the 04 5AT TL no mods, I drive the 02TL-S w/Comptech headers.
She gave me the signal at a light ("Meet the Parents" style) that she wanted a piece. So rolled the window and tolde her to turn off the AC. We both had full tanks, and she is about 65# lighter than I. It was a perfectly matched launch aside from the little bit of wheelspin in my TL-S (lost me a little due to a couple nails in tires 2 tires, i have the original rims on right now).
GREEN LIGHT
As I expected we were dead even out of the gate, she had a better low rpm torque and HP pull (she thought she had me) but we hadn't hit 4k rpm! Then the three foot lead she had was lost by the high rev RPM gain thanks to the headers (and she was still pedal to the medal! it is a real race here).
Then second gear shift, and I began to pull past and away from her steadily (I can imagine her sadness). 7k RPM, and shift into 3rd and I had a shade less than a car length and that was it for her! She conceded when I had a full length.
Wish I had the grippier tires on! Wow, great race up to about 85.
Now I have a gauge for improvement with future mods (I have been nagging her for months to race me)!

My wife is usually a slowpoke, but she indulged my nagging finally!
Bets were made, She asked "did we race for pink slips?" Must be a memory of the good ole cable days; Speed channel - Pinks! I laughed and said "Yup, hand it over!"
Acutee: think you could come tell me what that funny smell is coming from the front of her car? Think there was some smoke comin' from inside the wheels 'er somthin'! haha.
Now I have even more "mod fever" to see the improvement!

Good thing you didn't do that in L.A.

2 TLs would have been crushed.

This one should belong to "Racing & Competition" section so that no one get flamed that much.
My wife and I like to play similar "game" when she drives the TL-S and I am on Nissan Armada. Everytime we line up (in the evening) and if there is no car and people around, she would like put pedal to the metal and I would do the same thing but we only raise on the 1 gear and stop once the car shift to second gear. I usually get a little ahead due to 4wd and killer torque on the V8 but she would catch up very quick. Somehow, she knows how to launch so that the TL-S does not get much wheelspin.

Be safe !!!

another reason that you gained on her quickly at launch, but lost it due to wheelspin was that the 3G uses drive-by-throttle which has a slight delay. ALso the 3G TL transmission is a bit on the safe side, shifting much before redline. If you raced a real racer 3g and didn't have any wheelspin, you guys would be dead even. (but if it was an 07 TL-S, it would kick a NA 2nd Gen TL-s 's ass...

She did have a slight low RPM pull due to a broader power curve than mine (my thoughts) i have some graphs on the power curve comparison. but as soon as the revs worked in it was "advantage big daddy."
