Angry Base TL wheels

Saw the TL-S today and I must say that it's one hot looking car.The only problem I have with the car is the price.Simply put,I can't afford it.I thought about getting a base TL and getting the CL-S or the TL-S wheels because they look better. The problem I ran into there was,the dealer told me that the CL-S or the TL-S wheels won't fit a base TL.Is this true?

I have personally found the 02's stock wheels to be pretty hot. A nice departure from the 01 alloy stock wheels, these are more akin to the Type S's, except an inch smaller. The improvements on the 02, as I'm learning more and more as I read about and now start to live with this car, makes it a better car than the 01 TL. That's probably subject to debate, but it's my humble opinion.

Has anyone verified that the TL-S wheel is the same as the CL-S wheel? The CL-S wheel is supposed to be a 17x7 and the TL-S wheel a 17x6.5 according to the specs. So, I suspect (though I could be wrong) that the TL-S wheel may fit the regular TL even though the CL-S wheel does not fit the CL or TL.

Wrong. I, like many others on this site, have CL-S wheels on my TL and they fit fine. In fact, I've read on here that in Canada they are using the 17x7 on the TL-S. Before I upgraded my wheels I checked with two Acura dealers and they confirmed the wheel would work just fine. Just because the U.S. market asked for a 1/2 narrower wheel on the 2002 doesn't mean the wider ones are suddenly unsafe and mismatched for the TL. I drive the hell out of my TL with the CL-S wheels and I've never had a problem, nor has anyone on here posted any such problems.

Well I personally dont know of any one with a CL who put the CL-s rims on it, but from that earlier post there may be a problem with putting CL Type-S on the base CL.

Many people however have put the CL-s rims on the TL with no prob. The suspension may be the same between the CL and Tl may be the same, but there could be subtle differences we dont know about that make the CL-S rims fit on the TL but not on the CL.
