ok so im coming back from bowling last night... yeah random i know. i have 4 people in my car and a maxima with led washers, rims, lowered, etc etc comes screaming up behind me and tailgating. so he opens it up to go around and then i hesitate but give it a go. to my surprise he steadily pulled away. so we get to a light and i talk to him. says its all motor just exhaust and intake. we go from the light he never gets more then 3/4 of a car length. Then we go again but i got a split second better start and stayed right with him. We stop again. then he tells me he has a 2003 max motor the 255hp one and its manual. i also noticed an afc and another engine managment computer on the dash.
So long story short. at first i was embarrassed by my slow Type S. after all is said and done, i am almost proud.
its been a while since i had a little fun so i had to share.

i want more torque. and im not into the heavy modding. i am all about suspension, which i am think about changing. i came from a 1991 accord with tokico struts springs, ST sways, braces, bushings, and wheels. its a big diff in size and agility between the two and i am starting to miss that cornering on demand feeling. dont get me wrong, this handles quite well for a bigger car. do they make chips or anything minor to affect torque?

 

they do make chips but from what i hear they do nuttin but fuck up your engine and tranny

 

does it make sense to do headers with out TB/i/e? or is it useless. i dont wanna mod it that much, and make it too loud. i just want a some more torque. any ideas?

 

for headers all you need is an intake or ghetto CAI like me, K&N filter stock airbox and both intake resonators removed. you'll get very good gains.

 

now i am not that well versed in headers. i know the comptech ones are supposedly great. are there cheaper ones that are more worth while? oh i also have an acura 100k mile bumper to bumper and i would prefer to not void that at all costs.

wait all facts considered he had a 98 maxima 5speed or 6 speed with 03 VQ35 engine with intake and exhaust and you had 4 passengers? he is lying about having a VQ35 in their if he did he would have destroyed you. having the 98 engine with intake and exhaust and EM system and you had 4 passengers and he barely beat you makes sense. unless of course you have some sick mods.

thats exactly what I was thinking - I really doubt the new engine is easy to swap at all - I mean you dont see us talking about putting in the 3rd gen TL engine in our cars - Im sure its a damn pain that wouldnt be worth it.
