Ballast Replacement

Just wanted to share this with my fellow Acuraziners ...

1. I replaced my ballasts with the Morimoto 3fiveS ballasts and a pair of Morimoto bulbs. I was very happy with the result except that I have to pull out one of the housings because it leaks water.

What I learned after I cut the wires: They sell converters on eBay that will convert the OEM connector to a 9006 Connector. You do not have to splice if you don't want to.

2. I spray-painted both ballasts silver, took a picture of them with the igniters and put them up on eBay. I was very specific and advertised them as "one set works, one ignitor probably works, and one ballast might be salvagable" I included instructions on how to potentially revive the non-working ballast (thanks to the Acurazine).

3. I ran an auction on eBay and the bidding got up to $152.50, but the buyer backed out. This goofball ran up the bidding at the end scaring off my legitimate buyers.

4. The item was relisted and sold for $115. I cut the sale short because I was tickled with this price and thought the buyer was legit. (He was.)

(I included all models that use this ballast in the listing to cast the widest net possible: Acura TL, TSX, Honda S2000 and Mazda 3).

BOTTOM LINE: My Morimoto kit cost me $150-ish with new bulbs and I sold my old stuff for $115. Net cost $35 ... plus $10 eBay fees ... for a new system? Not bad.

Thanks again to Acurazine and all the folks here sharing their knowledge! I am returning the favor by sharing my results on eBay.

Did you see any benefit from a new Balast?
One of my headlights is out so I am getting LED Switchbacks and all new bulbs as well as Clearing them out and I was just wondering if it was worth replacing the Balast too?

suggest 5000K color for best abilty to see objects on the road

many of us use www.hidextra.com or morimoto is also popular for more dollars
