Bad Vibes....

Ok, I have seen this issue about drivetrain vibration at speeds of 70+ (1500-2000 rpm), but I have not seen anything remotely close to a resolution. Does any body know if there is one? I, for one, am pissed about this. I know that this vibration is not flatspotting. I have had the roadforce balancing. I have read about some 'harmonic resonance' with the exhaust. Someone even mentioned the torque converter. Has anyone experienced this problem with aftermarket exhausts????

I find these vibrations unacceptable for at $25K car. I mean my 93 Accord was smooth as glass.

Any info on this would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

If your car is shaking badly at 70mph the you might want to check your tires and your tie rod ends, one bad tie rod end will screw a perfectly aligned car up. Also check coils, if one is broken same result. If exhaust is abnormally loud and you have stock exhaust w/resonator still on then you have a hole in exhaust and thats loud enough to vibrate car some.Bring your car to an Acura dealer and have a tech go on a ride with you.

Anyone else have an idea?

I can't seem to figure it out since the vibration is inconsistent...

It is really annoying.

where about does the vibration come from? the steering wheel? maybe a bent rim or in my case it was bad wheel bearings

where is this "vibration" that you are talking about. the 2nd gen doesnt have any known issues with vibration.
the only forms of vibration are the warped rotors (which is a shaking of the steering wheel when the brakes are applied) and aftermarket headers (which some early designs had a resonance). the only think i could think of are worn out shocks or tires. its possible you have a bent rim also

There is very little if no vibration coming through the steering wheel.

Most seems to be in the floorboard and the seat.

I am leaning towards a bent rim since the tires are brand new and the shocks only have 35K on them. Do the TL-S rims have a history of bending easily?

no but all it takes is one pot hole. but if you say its not coming through your steering wheel, i doubt its a wheel. i havent heard of any fibrations coming through the seat and floorboard.

Ok..thanks for the info. I guess I will start with another roadforce balance and get a rim shop to check my rims out. If it persists then I will look into other options (tie rods, etc).
