not sure if your vtec controll is the Apex'i vafc
if so, make sure all wires are connect properly..
at your initial setting, set the Vtec engagement point @ 4300RPM
thats when stock vtec comes on a 99 model. test your car to see if vtec kicks in. also try monitor the "vtm" and "vto" when you drive your car.
Vtm is the stock vtec signal send to the controller. the Vto is the modified signal which send back to the engine by the controller.
If you set vto to 4300rpm, both vto and vtm should be ON when you reach 4300 which means your vtec is working. hope you understand my BS.

The V-tec isn't tuned for optimum performance, it's tuned to give better gas mileage. If you ever see a dyno graph there is a dip in power before V-tec. Most shops will lower the V-tec poing slightly to increase midrange HP....

heh wrong. The stock vtec is already programmed for optimum performance. Lowering your vtec engagement can actually cause
a LOSS of hp without proper tuning.
