Talking Bad gas milage?

Anyone else getting really bad gas mileage on their first tank after 600 miles? I have about 60 miles on my tank and it is 1/3 empty already. It's impossible to resist keeping the car at high rpms. Is way too much fun up in VTEC range.

I think your tank probably was not full. The tank should not be one third gone with only 60 miles driven. The tank holds almost 18 gallons.

With some highway driving at higher speed the gas mileage should be pretty decent. Type S AT has five speeds which helps. Also, you should think about HPG (Happiness per Gallon) along with MPG

I was just trying to be funny. Definetly high HPG.

I filled the tank up when I got gas (I always do so I can calculate MPG). The gauge was close to empty when I filled it up and I put in 13.5 gallons, so "empty" is really somewhee around 4 gallons left. Gotta love that big buffer.

This car can go pretty fast around 2000 rpm. You don't strain the engine. If you can redline it, the thing will be close to airborn

Drive safely.

I got about 150 miles with first half tank but I think you'll get more on the second half. It averaged out to about 25mpg.

I got about 281 miles on the first tank, which worked out to about 19.4 MPG if the tank was filled. I don't know if that was the case.

I was reasonably easy on the car durig this time. I do think the second tank will be a better indicator. I filled it myself, not the dealer.

Incidently, my driving was pretty much stop n go.

Your MPG will increase after the break in period. I post this before when I got my car, I was like, WTF!!! This car ate too much gas especially with the extreme gas prices these days. But after you have 1000 miles in your car, your mpg will definitely increase.

Yeah... I went from a 95 Camry V6 that avg about 22 mpg combined cty/hwy to a 99 BMW 325 that avg about the same to the TL-S that with about 2500 miles is avg about 17 or so. I'm certainly hoping it gets better, especially with the prices we're paying for gas these days!

My new TL-Tye S has 3500 miles and my worst mileage with 70%highway driving and driving the heck out of it was about 24.5mpg. Most of my driving with speeds 80-85mph is about 26.5 mpg and I once drove about 200 miles straight highway and then about 15% in town driving and got 28.3mpg. I will be driving it on about a 400 mile trip in a couple of weeks and I am sure driving 70-75mph I should get near 30mpg.. Love my car with Nav.Sound system sucks!

I was getting 23-24 MPG in the first 1000 miles.
Now I'm getting between 25 and 26.
I do mostly highway driving.
