Bad Front Motor Mount?

Hey in my tl i noticed that my front motor mount was fully depressed and that i can put my finger in the gap between the metal and the rubber at the top of the mount. Is that the way the mount is suppose to be or is it bad?

Test the mount by putting the car in D, holding the brakes firm, and blip the throttle. Have someone look and see how much movement the motor has. About 1 inch means it's shot. These things last usually about 50k miles.

my rear mount is bad, you can see the movement. my front was replaced about 6k miles ago and it could be damaged since my rear is shot.

I'd feel a "flutter" through my gas pedal [sometimes] when accelerating or when the car was slowing down, held back via the engine. Usually between 1st and 2nd. When getting a service done at Acura [2nd Gear oil jet], they immediately noticed, and reported, the broken mount to me. Front and side. $675 replaced.

I took great pleasure in replacing both myself. The car became so much smoother. $175 or so for the two mounts.

Since im alone i thought i would just give it a shot. When i put it in Drive and got on the gas i could hear a definite knock. Im asumming that both front and rear and done and need to be replaced.

Hey gold your right on the money about the side mount. Its ripped also. Looks like I have to replace all three motor mounts. Hell I might as well replace them all.
