Question Back window tint Problem!!

I just got my Windows tinted today 20% all the way around. The problem is that they didnt tint the top of the back window, the part with the dot matrix defrost, they said that on acura cars u cant tint top of it because it doesnt stick and it just falls off. I wanted to know if anyone has had problems with the back window? or maybe this tint place doesnt know what they are doing? Can the the top be tinted?

Thanks

A decent tint place should be able to tint it with no problem (no bubbles or anything like that). Many (even most?) people on here have the top tinted (me included), and haven't had any problems.

Some tint shops lightly sand the matrix bubbles with VERY fine sandpaper to get better adhesion. And some shops just cover the area with a piece of black vinyl. It's up to you. I have had the entire back window tinted for one year now and no problems with peeling, etc.

mine is tinted. it's actually on really good too. I know this place was really good because when they took the speakers out so they would cover the third light so I wouldn't have that ugly square, I knew they knew what they were doing. I do have a spoiler for the 3rd light.

I went ti Ziebart and paid for the most expesive tint job.. Not because I have money fallin' out my pockets but because that is one thing that can make the car look cheap if it turns purple or bubbles... plus there is a lifetime warranty on bubbling or scratches from the window contraptions or the door. Basically the only thing the warranty doesn't cover is scratches from rings or watches, something that you did, but if it is because of time or the inside of the door scratches it, free replacement....and it would be only 40 bucks CAN for a re-do on a window if I had scratched it.. I think the total was 250CAN plus a $50 sale....so $245CAN with tax (ya 15% sales tax).. but it was worth it.

I got my windows tinted and they advised me of not getting the top portion done as well. it annoys the heck out of me now and im debating if i want to cover the top with black vynyl or not , i've seen TLS on the road with full tint in the back , i think some dont want the liability of sanding down the antenna and then having to buy u a new rear window

Ya, I can vouge for Ziebart as well, I went there and they did the whole back window. 20% all around and there was a $30 off deal going on, so the total was like $200.

I just tinted my windows 35% all the way around and full rear window...no problems so far and this is my second car I have had done by this same place and the charge a little less than 200.00. If anyone live in the Boston areea I highly recommend this place to get your windows tinted.

It's true, a good tint company will take their time and not tint that part of the window, over time the tint will come loose and make a mess of your rear window. It's good that the company didnt tint that part as the tint has nothing to stick to.

i also have mine tinted all the way up, i watched both my cars get tinted and all they did was use a stick of glue to make sure it sticks to the matrix. like everyone else, "just make sure they know what they're doing". find a trusted family run buz.

BTW, one of the best ways to find out if it's a good place or not is if they ony use 1 sheet for the back window. Make sure you ask them that! only because one place i went to used 3 sheets to make the back window and it showed sun coming through the cracks. big no no! doing this may also jeopardized my defrost lines, when they slice it to fit. one of my lines on my accord stopped working.

my guy used 1 full sheet on the back, shrunk it to fit from the outside. no ugly little window for the light, *knock on wood* no bubble's yet. took over 3 hrs/whole car.

20% on the back, one piece, all the way to the top.

No problems, shouldn't be any for you either.

Are any of you having headlight glare problems through your tinted back window at night? I've had mine tinted for about two months now and have had this problem since the beginning. I thought it would go away after a week or so of curing, but it hasn't. Is this normal?

That's why I love having the spoiler on the car...the car comes from the factory with the center high mounted brake light disconnected since the OEM/A-Spec spoilers have a brake light on them...

check out tintdude.com. They listed out different solutions for dot matrix. No one perfect solution, yet.

Shouldn't glare be reduced via the tint? I haven't had any problems.
