I decided to revert back to the stock exhaust - the Comptech mufflers are a bit boomy (droney?) inside for my tastes in this kind of car (sport sedan). In fact, as others have pointed out, it sounds louder inside the car than outside.

I lightly sanded the stock mufflers and shot them with satin black Rustoleum - high heat paint is not needed at this end of the exhaust.

I wil be upgrading the stainless exhaust tips with the ones from this site. (see Exhaust section).

 

Are you going to sell the exhaust? If you are, I might be interested. I have the tips too, how about a even trade? j/k!

Anybody done a WAV file from an in-car recording> Need good bass to really get a feel (surround sound with subwoofers).

 

I was kidding on the loaner program thing. An internal recording of someone with the comptech exhaust was what I suggested last week in a thread that someone had posted a recording of their CIA.

Guess I'll be ordering the tips.

Damn, I was thinking about getting the Comptech exhausts next spring. Then now this happens. I already have the tips so let's see what happens next year.

I agree. I absolutely love them. Best mod I've ever done to any car. Really completes the car and makes it sound like it has 260hp. Everyone who rides in the car loves them and everyone who just sees them loves them....even non-car people take notice. The only time I found that the exhaust sound could get annoying is at idle, but I commute about 65 miles round trip, usually cruising at low RPMs (2-3k) and the sound does not bother me at all. If I have the radio cranked, I don't even know that they're there. BTW, did I mention that I love them!!

LOL... I know what you mean... I was swaying back and forth too, but I just bit the bullet and bought w/o seeing or hearing them in person. I bought them from Tim. I figured if I didn't like them, I'd send them back for something else!! I'm really not as picky as some people on this site, so it may just bother me less. Either way, I love them.....
