Back from roadtrip...

So I just came back from a roadtrip from NYC to FL on my (not so) trusty TL-S. Anyway the trip was a resounding success, no car troubles at all. Most surprisingly I managed to squeeze 30mpg the whole way through. Crazy, I barely managed to squeeze 22 with my mix driving at school. And I was no slouch on the pedal neither my average speed was about 80-85 with bursts of 100+. This was my 1st looong drive, and I gotta say with my girl doing about 1/3 of the driving it was pretty easy. Next step CALI!

Here's a pic I took of my baby at St. Augustine Beach

And me digging it out afterward

And then the dude in the pickup pulling me out...

Well thats all, roadtrips kick ass, if anyway is thinking about taking a long one, do it! As long as you have a good co-pilot!

The longest road trip I've ever taken was from Chicago to Vancouver, BC.

During that time I once managed to get about 760km out of a tankful of gas with the car fully laden with 7 pieces of luggage and two passengers.

We're going from the OC to Seattle in 2 weeks. I,m looking forward to a road trip. I have gotten 30 MPG also doing about 80. That fith gear is a big help. We are going to get a lot of rain I think. Just changed my wipers and oil. Ready to go!

I did it in two days. 12 hours the 1st, 5 1/2 the 2nd. Wasn't bad at all, got to palm coast at around 2pm. Thats pretty far north tho, orlando would be about another 1 1/2 hours, miami would be like another 4 - 5.

I stopped in Florence NC on the way there, and Petersburg VA on the way home. Each about 700 mile from where I left. On the way back I made better time, so it only took me about 9 hours to cover 700 miles, whereas on the way down it took me 12.

I went to my mechanic, got an oil change, had him check my brakes, shocks, etc., seafoamed.

And since you have a navi from a 99 i suggest you either make sure you're up to date, or dont use it cuz who knows what could've changed in the last 9 years...

I used about 33 gallons each way. Gas prices fluctuated from about about $3.30 for 93 to about $3.70 in SC cuz i think they know everyone stops there to fill up. Also unless you want to sleep in a shithole its about $80 for a good room along the way.

Honestly I fell that if you really wanted to grind it you can probably get there in one night, but you'll be probably be exhausted to following day, so its not really worth it IMHO.

making that little trip a 2 day drive. Next time you make a long drive, leave at night. You will be alot fresher to drive thru the hardest part, then as day comes and your more tired driving while light will be easier, not to mention if you plan it rigut you wont have to drive with as much traffic (thats how i do it on my drives to Orlando, FT Meyers and the Keys every other year)

Oh and congrats on getting stuck in sand (that stuff will suck you in quick)

I'm in Canada, so I don't know much about the fuel prices in the US, but $3.80 a gallon sounds like it's quite a bit expensive.

Lol the only reason I split it over 2 days is because I was driving with my girl, she wouldn't be able to handle it. But hey, we got in at 2pm the 2nd day, so its not like we really lost a whole day. We didnt hit much traffic, a few 15 minutes spot here and there but still with stops we made good time I think.

I'm straight. I swapped the old harddrive based unit with a dvd unit from a 2000TL, and I have the navi 2.40 dvd from acura
