Back with a new tranny---and some questions

Just picked up the car from the shop with my new tranny. I saw that they also replaced the front engine mount under warranty (I thought we had to pay for those?), as well as a couple of bumper clips, a PCM and ECM. No charges so I won't complain at all...just curious as I've never heard of engine mounts being included.

Also, I thought they just reprogram/flash the PCM rather than replace that and the ECM as well?

The car drives well, I did notice at idle under load of the compressor a couple of times it felt like it was about to die on me. I'll drive it awhile and if there are any problems, it will go back. It sounded like something was loose on the underside when I scrubbed the bottom coming out of a parking lot.

Go back immediatly- CALL the SERVICE MANANGER and tell them you are a come-back with new trans- would they be able to look at it now or give you a loaner car?

They normally dont reflash anything when doing the trans- your units tested bad so they were covered under warranty- score for you!

do you have really low mileage? or they ~goodwilled~ you the mount

Must've goodwilled it b/c I have 92,696 on it. That loose noise only happened once on the way home. Do I really need to take it back immediately?

Here's a rundown of the parts on the invoice

1 Warranty A/T Kit 06200-P7W-080RM
1 ECU 37820-P8E-326RM
6 Fluid ATF-Z1 08200-9001
1 Coolant OL999-9011
6 Clip, Fender, Inner 91512-SX0-003
6 Clip A, Bumper 91503-SZ3-003
1 MTG Rub Assy Eng FR 50800 S0K-A82

Now that I think back from when I wrote service, do you think the tech fried the ECU when trying to program the new tranny? That's happened before and we had to eat some of those at the shop. OR was it bad and they just gave me the "hookup" since I used to work there? I noticed those fender clips are unrelated, maybe they tacked my wheel well trim back up if it was loose. The car wasn't damaged or wrecked; I could look and tell...just curious about those parts on the list.

At idle under load of AC compressor, it almost dies----
Did it do that BEFORE it went to the dealer???!!!!

the ac compressor kicks on- the computer should make the idle go UP a little bit to compensate- something is not happening

New parts are not always good- installs get rushed, and something dragging coming out a driveway could be bad.
Another member saw fluid under the car-a little, then a LOT of fluid
They replaced the main oil seal for him no prob- sorry sir these things happen-
Get it back asap- its warranty on the repair itself or whatever else they screwed up

And they changed the coolant for you too, the total- we know you- hookup

To the best of my knowledge *DISCLAIMER* they just R&R the trans, add fluid to it and once around the block.
Since you have new command units it will have to learn your driving style just like a new car

They didnt mention any of this at the dealer?-
just- here's the keys- passed underhand-
get out of here fast~

No mention of it but looks like the took care of odds and ends adding those clips and a jug of coolant. I may call and just ask. I'm surprised Acura would not kick back the claim for the engine mount. At Jag, if you did not return a visibly faulty part that was a covered item; they would later charge-back the claim. They probably did a goodwill. I used to do this so I know how the game works. The service writer was also the son of the dealer owner (who owns 7 luxury franchises here).

Update:

I called the dealership back. FYI for those of you that try to get CHARGED for the front engine mount. Acura DOES cover that as part of the tranny warranty, so do NOT let a dealer charge you for the front mount when they replace the tranny.

With regard to the ECU/PCM.....trannys are ordered by your VIN #, some come with ECUs and some don't, at least that's what I'm told. Mine happened to come with one so it was replaced. I verified mine was replaced with the most updated 2/05 version I believe it is. I don't think there have been many failures with this newest update.

does this only apply to the front mount or applies to all mounts? i just dropped off my car for tranny problems and rear main seal leak. they charged me 130 to replace and fix the rear main seal leak and tried to charge me 175 for placement of side motor mount.

if they are suppose to fix it with the tranny then i will have a talk with them. if not ill will just order the part and fix myself.

They just replaced the front mount on mine, near the radiator. You can look down in front of the engine and see it easily. As far as I know that's the only one they cover. Mine was broken. I don't know about the side mounts. Ask your dealer and if you think they are lying, call Acura customer service and ask.

The Acura service writer told me that Acura covers the front mount. This guy didn't come write Acura service until I'd already left the dealership; so he's really not a buddy. All of my contacts aren't with Acura anymore with the exception of 3 techs.

Because the part was billed on the repair order, it had to be paid for somehow; it was billed under warranty (WPAY); if it was an internal shop deal as in they just ate it, it would say INSVC on the invoice. He didn't tell me that it came out of a goodwill either.
