Thumbs up B-pipe REVIEW

I finally had my B-pipe installed last Friday by Velocity Resources, it arrived the same day it was installed. I have been waiting for a few months now and I can tell you it is worth the wait.
First impressions were this pipe looked pretty massive and it was a beautiful all stainless steal unit. It comes in 2 sections as opposed to the stock which is 1 long section. It only has one resonator instead of the stocks 2 and it is a bit bigger in diameter about 10mm if I'm not mistaken.
The sound is a lot more aggressive than before. It is very low and rumble like at idle-very nice. Under hard acceleration it is more pronounced as well.
Performance is great on this piece. Supposedly it adds about 5-6HP. The car accelerates quicker with it on and it is much more fun to drive.
I'll post track results next week. I'll be going on Wed. 14.

I'm looking to get it too, but figured I'd wait until after the winter. I installed the exhaust when it snowed and that wasn't fun, so I think I'll wait for a dry warm day to install anything under my car again.

I now have the complete Comptech exhaust with the exception of the Random Tech. cat. Since nothing is stock, there is quite a bit of cabin noise(V-tech, Supercharger, exhaust, etc..)...and this is not a complaint. There is a bit of a resonance at around 1,800 to 2,200 RPM with the addition of the B-pipe. However There is not much noise increase at full throttle. All this could possibly be cured with Dynamat if you so chose.
If you go down the same road I did, in terms of mods, don't expect your TLP or TLS to be the same in noise level as when you first got it.
Having said that, I can also say that I'm very pleased with the entire setup. Performance is great and at idle this car sounds awesome-sorry that I'm not able record the sound for you guys but if someone has a recorder and comes to one of our meets you can record it and post it.
The B-pipe cost me $405 from V.R. shipping included.
I'll post track results as soon as I can.

I wonder is that should give more gains that say...My Tanabe Hypers. don't it though. One resonator on mine as well and I got the full stainless steel deal as well, but my cans are freaking huge, but then again I like that. Congrats on the B-pipe, but for the money that Comptech is charging for their catback. It is just too much. I rather get the Japanese alternative.. hahaha alright then I'm out.

You wont be able to get the complete exhaust for $1,100 IMO.
Let me explain, from Comptech:
1) Header + down pipe $1,249
2) Axleback $669
3) B-pipe $450
From Random Technology:
4) High flow metal cat $ 229

Total for all of the above $2597 + shipping + labor
so 2,400 not so bad
Maybe a used complete system for $1,100 but I doubt it.

Yes, they are loud, but I love the way they look. sound pretty deep, but the OBX header's resonance doesn't help.

I promised my boyfriend I would do nothing to this car engine wise. So once my SC is installed and full CT exhaust, if we're sitting at a light you mean noise wise he going to wonder what's up? Is it that recognizable that it's not just a luxury sedan anymore. I REALLY need to know this.

Yes, it will be noticeable. The biggest volume increase will be at full throttle. To minimise some of the noise keep your stock cat and don't get the B-pipe. I couldn't deal with that.mad:
Onether option would be to get the Comptech quiet inserts and or Dynomat your car.

Comptech springs, sways, strut bar
Comptech header, B-pipe and axle back
Random Tech. HIGH-flow cat
Rotara big brake kit
Comptech blower w. 5.5lb pulley
Auto Meter air/fuel and boost
Mille Miglia ‘Avia’ s w. 235/45-17 Michelin pilot sports
Upgraded performance tranny w. Comptech trans. cooler

All of this must have set you back well over $10K. Are you happy with 1/4 mile 13.950@102.11 after putting so money into the car?

If I had a lot of money to pour into my car just for fun I would do it. Unfortunately, I have other things I need to pay for. Some ppl really love their car and will mod it to their heart's content. Good for them. At least they are doing something they enjoy.

I bought the car back in Nov. of 2002 for 24,500 with 11,000 miles and it is a 2002. So total investment with car and mods is about 34k. Considering what I've seen at the track I'm very happy with it and it's 13.9 performance. Track officials have even commented to me as to how fast the car is. With all the car has on it now it makes for a great platform. With intercooler and more boost maybe a 1,500 or so investment would possibly give a low 13 or perhaps even a high 12.9 second car.
