Average Price For Engine Mount Replacement

my engine mounts are BUSTED! the engine probably moves 1-2 inches each way every time i rev it. its so bad that its moving the headers and exhaust under my car, causing them to tap into the underbody of the car and create a nasty grinding noise

so i gotta replace them. the dealers quoting damn near 400+ for this shit. they say they have to remove the engine, which i believe is BS

im taking it to local shops and would like to know what i could expect to pay.

how much are the parts?
how many hours of labor?

400 isnt bad at all if they are replacing more than 1 mount and that price is including the mounts. As for pulling the engine to do it no they dont have to do that.

I got three done when I was getting my tranny swapped out for a little over $400.

I didn't look at the RO (too painful), not sure how much the parts cost. Close to a $100 a mount, IIRC.

you need to replace all 3 at once, because they are all kinda bad, and you leave one, it will make the others fail quicker - at least not work properly

Last time I brought in my Acura for tranny replacement, the service advisor told me I need a new engine mount and it cost around 300-400 for part and labor. Since I have extended warranty, it was done under the extended warranty (I don't call it free since I paid for the warranty).

Cheers !!!!

Thats how they do it. Even if the mounts were new they want to make sure you have newer fresh ones. The tech wont make any money if they didn't find anything else.

You are making me feel good because when I got a new tranny the dealer replaced the motor mounts at no additional cost. What a deal!

im having a hard time using that website. if you go to the engine mount section theres like 50 parts. i see 3 engine mounts, #5, 34, and 6, however only 6 is listed on the buy section. id really feel dumb if i got the wrong parts when i bring the car in...or should i just let the shop handle the purchasing?

Well mine front mount was bad. The one that goes by the radiator. I bought it from Autozone for around $110 and took it to a mechanic. He replaced it for 50 bucks. They will jack up the engineand replace it. Its not a big deal at all. If i had that big jack, i would do mine myself...but well then u need the time.

Only the front mount is the most expensive one. It has some hydrolic stuff in it. The side mounts and the back one should run u approximately 40 bucks each from O'Reilly.

don't mean to dig up a month old thread, but I have a question. I have 127k on my 99 and when I am going slow in 4th gear and then step on it my car jerks pretty hard sometimes, not all the time, but most of the time. I was thinking it was my tranny, but it almost feels like my engine is rocking. How do you visually check for a bad motor mount? And where are the rear and right side mounts located?

I have 54K on my 2002 Acura TL. I went for my regular service and the dealer says that I have front and side engine mounts broken. Dealer is qouting me $460 for parts and labor.
Is there anyway I can get this checked outside (whether they are really broken) for free as I don't trust my dealer.

You'll need a friend to help.

Put car in drive
With foot on break, step on accelerator. Watch to see if engine rocks from front to back. If it does, one or more engine mounts are broken. You can also look for the tell-tale brown stain on the driveway or around the mounts.

Rear is in the back of the engine, straight in line with the front one.
Side mount is just to the left of the power steering pulley/belt. The side looks different than the front and rear which pretty much look the same.
