automatic sunroof in the process!!

hey guys i finally figured out the automatic sunroof diagram that bebber made and i decided to wire everything (the relays, timer, etc) that i could out of the car.. cuz it's in the shop being painted. and when i get my car back, it's gonna be like a plug and play..

i tested the "system" with a 12v battery and a few lights, and it works! all i'll have to do when i get my car back is connect the grounds and the +12v's where they need to be connected and everything should work!

i'll keep you guys updated cuz i know a lot of you wanted to do this.. it's very simple when you understand the diagram!!

Can you please explain what it does? What do you mean by automatic? Does not 2nd gen sunroof open and close automatically with touch of a button?

Yeah, i figured it out also but I am sitting on my ass waiting for the damn parts. I know why most shops can't figure the sunroof out though, its because they go straight to the motor.

Didn't have bebber's diagram though. How much did u get the 528 relays for? Also you were able to break the circuit with the tilt button righT? so you can stop it in mid process.

got the timer for like 25$..

and yes i can break the circuit with the tilt button

joganjani/Gold2kTL: on the 2nd gen TLs, you need to hold down the button until the roof is fully opened/closed.

with this modification, you will only have to press the button no need to hold it down. the sunroof will close or open automatically.

btw it's not my idea, it's bebber's idea!

huh??? will the tilt button install on your car? If you don't have a tilt button you can wire it to something else like a simple push button to stop the automation process.

Ok but guys will the tilt feature still work? My take on this is when the open/close button is pushed, the tilt button is converted into a relay that will simply interrupt the process of the sunroof from opening/closing automatically and will stop the sunroof from moving whenever you push it. If you simply push the tilt button when the sunroof is closed, it will simply tilt up like it always has...

is this correct?

Another question about this mod. If the roof is tilted, you usually press the close button to bring it back down. Since you only need to push the close button for a second or two (less time that it takes to close the roof it were slid open) to close the tilt, does the timer still engage the motor to close the roof for 5 seconds or whatever (the time that’s used to close an open sunroof)? Wouldn't that hurt the motor to push against a shut roof for that long (I'm thinking long term, over the course of years)? Or is there a kill switch already built into the roof that stops the motor after the roof is fully closed even if the button is held?

Once the DIY is up, I'm going to do this with a normal window switch and put it on my door. That way the original is still intact.

I always hated how far the switch was

Malayalee, you just need the switches to provided a ground to the circuit. That how it the sunroof works.
