Auto-RX

I just switched over to synthetic last week, 67,000 miles. Now after having read around the forum, I am starting to think maybe I should have treated the engine with Auto-RX before switching. Well I would just like to hear testimony from TL owners that have switched to synthetic with and without treating the engine with Auto-RX. Preferably TL's that have under gone the switch with >50 or 60k miles I would like to see testimony for. And if you please, you recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks!

Have never heard of that AUTO-RX stuff and having to treat it with that before switching. As far as i know, you dont have to treat it for shit. Just simply start using Synthetic and your fine. He'll, when i bought my car used from car max, i have no idea what they might of put it in, but all i know is that after 3K of driving when i did my first oil change since i had bought it, i went str8 to putting MOBIL1 syn for my first change with me owning it. Since then thats all i use every 5K miles. Engine runs strong and smooth.

got mine with 58k miles on it, put dyno oil in the first few times and switched to Mobil 1 synthetic at 70k miles. I didnt do anything but switch the oil. I change it every 5 or 6k miles, just when I get to it around then - no problems and I am at 102k miles

Thanks guys guys for all the feedback! One more question! What oil weight do you use now when your cars are already this far into mileage? My mechanic told me to switch over to 5w-30 since the engine is all loose now and that 5w-30 would keep the engine nice and tight. Plus it much easier to find 5w-30 Mobil 1 he added, like at Costco Warehouse in those 6 packs or 5 quart jugs at Wal-mart.

I know this is a really old thread, but I was wondering if anybody has recently used this stuff. I am wondering if anybody has any experience with Auto-RX or Amsoil Engine Flush compared to Seafoam in the oil to clean the engine.

thats what it recommends (unless you have a 02-03 which went to 5w20 ONLY for cafe standards)

your 02 will do fine on 5w30
cafe was a govt program measuring economy across the range of vehicle a maker had- so the switch to 20 gave a tiny improvement in mileage for those tests
Doesnt make it better for the engine!
Even the cars on 5-20 in the book say 5-30 in certain summer temps
