Auto Dimmer doesn't dim

When I turn the auto dimmer on for my rear view mirror, it doesnt dim anymore. Last night, an 18 wheeler's light behind me was BRIGHT. I turn the dimmer off and on again and it still doesnt work. Any ideas?

Is the green light even coming on letting you know that is receiving power?

Do you remember it working after you got tint? Tint reduces the effectiveness of the dimmer.

i used water to clean the mirrors. The green light is on. My tint did not affect it before. I'll probably take it to the dealer this week. Will keep all posted

I have the exact same problem, except about 50% of my mirror dims. It seems that something inside is obviously busted. Sunnyvale Acura quoted me $192 to get it replaced (includes parts and labor). I haven't done it yet, but will probably do so at my next oil change.

I had a parking permit that you hung on the mirror, and it took me awhile to realize there was a sensor on the back as well as the front. The permit was making it operate wacky.

Wait, are you saying that an electronic device could make the mirror not dim correctly? I have a radar detector and a FasTrak (electronic toll collector) mounted direcly behind the mirror. Could this be causing a problem?

No, it was just a piece of plastic. It covered up the sensor that faced the windshield. I took it off, and blam, it worked fine again. I felt retarded.

Hmmm. I never knew there was a sensor that faced the windshield. I guess I'm still screwed with the mirror.
