My auto dimming feature on the rear view mirror is acting funny. If I turn to Auto, the mirror covers itself with a dark spot covering only half of the mirror. It looks like an ink smudge inside.
Any of you know anything about this.

Only thing I know is bring it back to dealer. They should replace it for free.

The mirror is contains liquid crystals... just like most digital watches/calculators. When they get damaged, they exhibit the problem you're describing. It's been my experience that it's usually when they're hit with something, but it could happen because of other things as well.

Put that warranty to work.

Are you sure about the crystals - I thought it was an electro-chromic gel. But being accurate makes me anal I guess.

My guess is it suffered a mechanical blow - do you recall hitting with an elbow or letting someone else drive the car?

Dealer will replace it under warranty.
