assclown returns from deployment, updates!!!

hey guys, i just got back from my arabian cruise a few weeks ago and these past few weeks i've been working hard at the car...

FOGLIGHTS FINISHED!!!!

i had roberts auto enhancements in louisville, KY wire up the foglights from the dash to the ballasts, then i wired from the ballasts to the housing myself (i had to wait for the HID kit to come in the mail after i was done with roberts....

i know the bumper isn't all the way seated, i need to get some more clips.... anyone know the cheapest places to get these?

night pics soon to come when it's dark

next update, the car is finally registered in ky!!! i was finally able to remove that GOD awful ugly front license plate, but i didn't get custom lettering like i had (32LVTEC) but it's all good. since there are no vehicle inspections (EVER!!!) i removed both intake silencers and the next thing to do is take it to an exhaust shop and get mid-mufflers removed

this weekend i should have my acura brake caliper decals in the mail, so i'll be painting my calipers red and putting the high temp decals on.

finally got a girlfriend too!! been a while.

that's all for now. any input is welcomed!!

Welcome home!

The fogs look green in the last daytime pic. Are they yellow or green at night? Where did you get them from?

to adjust headlight aim- look at the top of the housing- on its back side there is a v channel groove that narrows as it gets down to the adjuter gear
Simply slide a + screwdriver down the groove till it reaches the gear, now rotate handle- May require some angle of tool to fit best-
use head of screwdriver to turn the cam gears- easy!
there is a mark on top of headlight, indication of left/right for up or down

there is a left-right aimer also located same area-its the corner one

iirc there are headlight aiming numbers- for `feet off ground of main beam area at 30 feet`- in the DIY section of gen2, or gen3 garage section has it too- same procedure and numbers

HID fogs are for looks only-

the super brightness of the lights will bounce back way too much glare off the water vapor droplets for you to be able to see with them on
kinda defeats their intended purpose~
but for pure looks dept- very nice!

Same rules apply to HID as our low beams- handle bulbs wearing rubber/latex gloves, or clean the bulb with rubbing alchohol before final install-
finger oils leave a hot spot and ruin bulbs

They need some burn in time- 50 hours or so to get max brightness and color stablized.
Drive with them ON all the time for a few months to get hours on them

alright. thanks for the advice on the aiming directions.... they are 3000k H11's from the Civic fog lights. they are yellow not green, but i noticed that myself they looked like that in the day time haha.

01tl4tl, as far as rubber gloves... i didn't need to use them . the ebay user sent me the kit with the bulbs inside a plastic container and i took them out of the container when i was finally ready to install them in the housing, didn't touch a single part of the bulb.

I write my post to apply to other people attempting a job, not so much the person who already did it~
you've been away and dont know my style!!

halogen or HID bulbs should not be touched by human skin- protective barrier in place is the key
or clean them if accidentally touched

yeah, i had to cut away the pockets on the bumper cover (obviously) and i had to cut away about 2-4 inches of the frame, wasn't too bad and as you can see it does no structural damage, or change the integrity of the frame. a dremel tool with metal cutting discs will suffice.

I notice that your dash board Fog Light switch and your sunroof control switch are on different sides than on my car. Guess you can put them in whatever order you like.

On the subject of HID foglights.....what about when you are night driving on like a 2-lane highway and frequently switching back & forth between high beams & low beams depending on on-coming traffic. Your HID fog lights will be turning off with the high beams, back on with the low beams, etc, etc, etc...isn't that somewhat of a concern with HID lights?

as far as the switch is concerned, i didn't do the switch, i had roberts auto enhancements in louisville kentucky wire up (i'm a mechanic not an electrician haha) from the switch in the dash (since the car didn't come stock with foglights, there was just a dead switch there, i ordered a switch from a 2002 tl from e-store) to the bumper, and when i got my new HID kit in, i hooked up from the ballast to the bulbs, they made it really easy for me. as far as the high-beams to low beams are setup, they did not wire my foglights to the ECU for that function, i'm assuming they just spliced into my parking lights because the foglights only work when i have my parking lights on and they'll flash with the parking lights say if arm or de-arm the alarm with my keyfob. but don't worry, they don't flash when i turn the turn signal on. they did a great job in that aspect, i'm very happy with the setup. now i need to start looking for lexan because i have a feeling these bulbs are going to melt the stock civic lenses

if your fogs flash when you lock and unlock the car i dont think thats too good for the HIDs. especially if the alarm goes off and it continues to flash. someone correct me if im wrong but flashing the HIDs on and off could ruin and significantly shorten the life of your bulbs

i'm not too worried about all that. i have the money to replace the bulbs and if that were the case my low beams would need replacement because those flash when my alarm goes off too...

yeah its kinda weird cuz well... i'm almost 100% positive that it shortens the life of HIDs cuz well i messed up my fogs like that too and well like i think my ballast is messed up and each fog is kind of a dif shade from each other like especially when i 1st turn them on one side is really green and the other side is really yellow but they both turn yellow later... but yeah enuf of me rambling i was wondered why acura programmed the alarm to go off w/ the low beams

i'm pretty sure it was an effort to make the car noticeable at night or in a parking garage if the alarm is going off the low beams would be bright enough to see what car it is from a distance.

now, onto bigger and better things, i spent 6+ hours from start to finish on painting my brake calipers yesterday, i wanted to be very thorough so i took all the brake hardware apart (left the caliper connected to the brake system still) and used the duplicolor brake caliper kit, it worked out very well. now i'm just waiting on my acura decals to come in the mail and i'll stick them on that biatch.

Thats true. I heard you can blow the ballasts real quick like that too. They have to warm up so having it flashing isnt really good
