Haggling on price is here for the foreseeable future. Neither side should take it personally. The customer puts out a bid and the saleman puts our an offer. If the two numbers cross, you have a sale. If not, you move on to the next dealership or customer.

I've found that the best way to purchase a car is to do all your research ahead of time and come to a number you are willing to pay. Then show up at the dealership and offer that price. This way, the salesperson knows your educated and you're not wasting their time. It's work well for the last three cars I've purchased.
