Post Armour All

For Christmas I got a variety a car cleaning supplies - from a rim cleaning brush to de-icer (not using that crap tho, says on the side it's lethal and causes birth defects in lab animals :eek .

Anyway, one of my relatives bought me some Armour All vinyl protectant wipes. I was skeptical but when I tried it on a small area I was amazed!! The dull vinyl turned nice and shiny! And when the stuff dried it was still shiny. Its been a couple days and I love how much nicer my interior is. I wiped down the entire inside, every piece of plastic and vinyl, its great!

I wonder if there are some negative side effects... I was careful to not get it on any leather, clear plastic, or glass.

I would recommend this stuff, try it on a discreet area and see what you think!

I would stay away from anything Armour All. That stuff may look good for now, but in the long run your doing more harm than good. The vinyl will end up cracking eventually.

Gimmich, I'll have to disagree with you on that.. The dashboard on my '87 Honda was Armor all-ed from day one, and for the ten years I owned it, the dash was shiny and clean as ever, and never cracked..As for the dash on the TL, I just wipe it down with a sponge because I don't need any reflections off the windshield of the dash..

The classic Armour All was a waterbased cleaner with protectants, and would in fact dry out the surfaces you were putting it on if you did not renew it regularly. Products like ClearGuard, or Meguire's protectants (both glossy and matte) work well without that risk. I use Meguire's since it keeps the dash clean AND does NOT reflect. Definitely do not use armourall on tires, as it can dry out the sidewalls.

Dunno if it was high gloss or low shine, doesn't say - just says Protectant Wipes. Came in a box with tire foam, rim cleaner, soap, and wax.

Probably won't use the soap or wax - got better stuff. Sprayed the rim cleaner on my stock rims, let it sit 60 seconds, sprayed it off and it looked clean to me.

But you say the tire foam is bad? Says it cleans and shines, just spray it on the sidewalls and spray off with the hose.

As for the vinyl, its not so shiny that it would cause reflections... it just looks much more black... I'm telling you, just try it on a small area. Though you guys are making me 'noid and I'll probably go buy some Meguiar's just for piece of mind.

This is the only reason I don't use it... too much reflection...

Meguire is the best. The only problem is that it's much more expensive.
