Apples vs. Oranges...should i stay or go blue?
so the woman recently saw a 2003 ABP TL-S on the side of the road and we decided to go out and take a look today.
my thread is a question of is it worth it. and when the owner calls back.. what price to bargain at and pros and cons of switching aside from what i already assume.
so lets keep it short and show the cars.
2003 abp TL-S with 67k miles. already kitted. and interior from what i can see is in good condition.
of course mine is a TL-P with a young 175k
so tell me your thoughts. im all ears.

Galves is what DLR use on trade in...
so wholesale on car is :
2003 TL = $6800-$7750 w/74k miles
Type-S = $7500-$8500 w/74k miles
Navigation Add $400
But remember that is wholesale..
So a great price would be that but I think if u can get it under $10,000 you should go for it.. Personally i would stay away cuz the trans but it's on you!

BTW I think it would help us decide BETTER if you had some more pics of your girl by both cars, so we can see what car matches HER better..

^ LOL, you put up the pic....we comment

Anyway...if it were me, and cash isn't an issue, I'd go for it if everything checks out OK (tranny records, test drive and all that).
I would switch my car just for the kit!
Wait, were you going to sell? or get that as a second ride?

well buying it without selling mine isnt an option right now... i just got rid of my 3rd car (94 accord) to make room and buying another is just one more note and less parking room lol. not to mention i'd feel funny owning two TL's b/c i wouldnt turn either into a track car like rajca does with his dealership of 2nd gens.
so i'd sell mine to one of the people who ask every now n then
and get this one.
there's always the fear of how somebody treated the car though.. so much could go wrong in such little time.. mine i know will run forever b/c i've treated it that way since i've had it.
but that ABP is so purttttyyy
ps. she jumps in them on purpose.. she wants to have her shot at fame on azine lol

If you get a good deal, I'd say go for it. The car has over 100K less miles than the one you have. As good as your car is it still has a lot more miles. Any way you look at it your car's gonna crap out sooner than this car you're looking at.

+1 for more pics of your girl with or without
the car.

GET IT!!! I mean look at that front but replace that fog (obviously as you pictured it) and looks like you will be good to go. and Black interior. Missing navi but hey take what you can get right. Still a nice upgrade IMO (your car is nice to don't get me wrong but I got something for that 03 front and black tl-s interior). Better get it before someone else jumps on it of course that is if it is a good price. And if you do sell yours I'm sure you can get good money for it as it looks like it is in great condition. but go with your instinct as you are the one who sees all the little flaws looks pretty clean except the fog and the rear bumper but it that from a bad repair because of an accident I don't think I have seen factory paint do that usually from a cheap repaint. pictures got a thousand words are they just telling you everything you want to hear and none of the truth or is it really that clean that is what you have to find out. check the taillights spoiler and trunk to make sure if it was in an accident they used OEM Honda parts (Stanley taillights they also say Honda I'm sure you might know as you changed taillights on yours already and the word Acura under the spoiler) if the trunk is the original it will have the vin visible when you open it by the latch part if that's gone or doesn't match it might have been replaced. If its clean and its in your price range go for it I say but again that's MHO!!!!! and im blind but are the exhaust tips missing or at least on the passenger side not a big deal but something to look at lol!!!
I would keep the FPRed. You put some money into it already and if you were to drop some dough into a new car, you would be at square one with essentially the same car (sure the Type S packs more punch and a cosmetic upgrade) but your car is unique and if you were to drop on a new ride, might as well try a new route (even though I love the 2gen TL - classic) but is it worth it? I have an 03 TLP and I have come across a few great opportunities to get a (02-03) Type S kitted but didn't pull the trigger because I knew it wasn't worth it financially. If you have the scrap, have you thought about a 6sp swap and/or an engine swap?

^^ go the dealer.. its faster
no but definately if i were to move on i would part this car out untill there was nothing left but frame..
the blue book on 99 TL's is 2,600 for trade in and like 4k for private party.
i can get double that in parting out.
come to think about it, i might as well just keep this car the next time i buy one lol. it aint worth it to sell it

Go for it man. Your car is nice, but those wheels would look good on the ABP also. The other car already looks really nice as is-has a kit and everything. Id do it. ABP is such a good looking color as well....
I believe I saw that car on eBay recently. I remember it having 67k miles. Also I think the seller was trying to get $10k with a salvage title. Give me call and I can run the VIN for you to double check

with a salvage title its worth 4k to me.. unlikely he'll sell it for that price but thats the harsh truth.. anybody with a brain wouldnt pay more then that for it.
my fiance's civic is a salvage and the blue book on a non-salvage is 11k and she thinks hers is worth that because it was "fixed"
psh she'll be lucky to get 5

Idk man, personally your TL is a lot sexier then the type-s, but then again you have a lot of miles and less hp... idk up to you, personally if I had a choice I'd take yours over the ABP
P.S. what's NBP, ABP, mean I know NBP has something to do with black paint, ABP has something to do with blue...
