anyone use only SS

I tried to force myself to use it all the time and the car really feels like 10 times as sporty. its cuz the tranny uses each gear instead of bypassing them all to get to the highest gear. anyone else concur?

I always use it when passing, makes me fell better to get around a car in 3 seconds. I often use it when merging onto roads from exit ramps. That is about it though. Maybe use it now and then when racing people.

I always use SS, unless I am on my cellphone. I don't really think it uses up more gas. I get about 300 miles until the gas light comes on.

I rarely use SS.

85% of the time manual mode
and
15% Auto mode.

much more responsive..

I only drive Auto when I'm on the phone or in traffic(every morning).

I concur with the thoughts here. I love the sport shift. on windy and hilly roads as it makes the car very powerful. And passing, this thing is great. However in traffic or if you are tired, the regular tranny is great. This is the beauty of the dual transmission. Even if a 6 speed manual was availiable, I would still opt for the Auto/manual shift. This last statement will I am sure will bring out the pure enthusiest on this forum who will disagree and are awaiting for the manual.

I use it 90% of the time.. It makes the driving experience that much better then just the ordinary automatic...

I think the Acura engineers knew this when they built the car... Even with all the other auto/man systems out there, steptronic, j-shift, etc.... Acura's is ahead of the pack... I hate the triptonic tranny on the 911, way more complicated than the easy to read set up we have...Shyne...

SS is great when in traffic (torque braking) and when you feel like crankin' it up a bit. Otherwise the shift selector is in D5....oh how good it is to drive an automatic.

the auto is so weak cuz mine's always in 4th gear. no punch when i need it. the SS alone makes the TL a light year ahead if the i30t, es300, etc.

I run SS all the time. I'd prefer the 6 speed manual when it come out, but since I already have a car with a 6 speed, the TL is my cruising/ relaxing car...but even then I drive 90%+ using SS. Freeway passing, mild traffic, stop and go...all using SS to get into the right gear. I always seem to run in the lower gear so I am always ready to take off on a dime. Ok, so it gets bad mileage that way, its worth it to enjoy the drive right?

Torque braking is wehen you use the gears to slow you down, ie you shift into 4 while cruising at highyway speed h of say 80mph, you will feel thge engine slow you down. Thats torque braking. Use the brakes when you can though as brake pads are a lot cheaper to replace than tranny parts. At least the computer keeps your tranny from downshifting into an unsafe situation though when you are going to fast for a gear.
