Anyone with a TL please help
Here's the deal i got a new job and am selling my show truck which is now my daily driver due to wrecking other car. But with my new job I have to travel alot and there is no reasno to drive my lifted 4x4. I have showed cars now professionally for 5 years, and i can think of no better car than a TL for my next project. So here's the deal the local Honda dealer has 2000 TL with 8000 miles and a long list of options. Options- Factory body kit and spoiler, AEM intake, Comptech springs, Comptech headers. Tanabe Hyper Medalion exhaust, 26 pcs wood trim kit, 17x8 momo sports, and a custom one off chip. My question is this a good deal for $26,000. I personally beleive it is a steal. Give me you r opinion.

Welcome.
My take is that I am always hesitant to buy cars that has been modified with bolt on modifications let alone a modified ECU.
Anyhow, do some reasearch on the chip and ask what kind of warranty is offered on the car. I dont want to scare you away but thats just my .02

A few things to go over before buying
1. check repair history by keying VIN# into carfax, com. Ask dealer on maintenance history.
2. check warranty on all after market parts. Get it in writting that the warranty is transferable to you. Many warranties are orginal owner warrranties, non-transferrable.
3. have the dealer give you a written 30 ride warranty, so if you find anything major-ly wrong, you can return it for your cash back.
If it seem too good to be true, it is.
Good Luck! Let us know!

sounds like a great price except:
I don't like the chip, beware of that
and
isn't the Tanabe exhaust like THE loudest exhaust you can get on a TL? I thought I remembered reading that somewhere.
Good luck with whatever you decide.

I just talked with the manager down at the Honda dealer. The ecu chip is custom piece but he is willing to let me keep the chip and he will replce the chip with a factory chip. Also he will give me a 30 day 12000 mile cash back warranty. and the car already has the transferrable extended warranty. i'm hesitant, so i'm gonna let the mechanic at the toyota place which is a certified honda serice department check it out.

Have you asked "why did the original owner sell/trade it?"

Damn. That sound real good with all those mods. I don't even have some of those and I paid 31K for my 99 with body kit.

Damn, another TL with the Tanabe Hyper? I thought I was the only one? Yeah, it is THE loudest exhaust for the TL and Accord, I had to add another resonator to reduce the noise. If you don't want loud, take off the exhaust.
I think it's a good deal, but be sure to check that nothing's wrong with the car cause usually the owner beat the sh!t out of a modified car. If it's in good condition, GO FOR IT!
