Anyone planning or already have winter tires on their TLs?

I was just wondering if anyone will put winter tires and a new set of crappy steel rims on their TLS. If so, which tires are u guys getting and approx how much? I live in Toronto so I definitely need to get winter tires and the tires offered by Acura are way too expensive!($200 Cdn per tire, $135US per tire) cuz normally I see winter tires at around $110 per tire ($75Us)

Plenty of info on the wheel and tire archive.

I bought some TL (non-type S) wheels and Nokian NRW.

IMO why make the car ugly for 5 months of the year with steel wheels?

For about $150 you can get CSA Odyssey or Polaris.

You can also buy Accord 16" alloys at eBay for a reasonable amount of money. Their bolt pattern matches the TL's and they're perfect for winter tires.

Hi Rock!

I also live in Toronto. I had to purchase a set of alloys because even my girlfriend (who doesn't care about cars at all) complained about how ugly my old steel wheels looked on my old accord! I was able to buy a set of '01 TL rims on ebay for $400 cdn. I then priced around for tires and decided on the Bridgestone WS-50's. Haven't yet put the snows on the car because I still like the look of the 17" rims

hmm...that's interesting, you actually bought an old set of rims on ebay....I never thought about that at all....although I must say that I'm still insecure about buying stuff over the net...$400 is amazing for the old TL rims...how much were the tires?

Hey Rock!

I priced around and the best price i could get was $133 balanced and installed. That even includes new valve stems. A lot of other places charged extra for the stems and also charged to have the tires installed! The place I went to is in Scarborough, called Nantucket Tire (ask for Lou) and is located near the intersection of Lawrence and Kennedy Rd.

Hope that helps.

Oh yeah, I have made plenty of purchases on Ebay and I haven't been shafted a single time yet! I thought the deal I got was amazing since a single new rim will set you back about $300-400 for a stock one!

Ricedaddy, what tires come standard with the TLS? Michelins?
I have a 2002 6 speed Max and the RE92 are not good at all. Even folks in the US complain about the bad wet traction. I am in Calgary and got the LM22 Blizzaks. Supposed to be better than the MZ01,MZ02, but not as good on ice as the WS50.
