Anyone ever use the parking brake?

I have never used my parking brake. I'm used to a manual transmission. Should I be using my parking brake? Probably a dumb question but... Thanks.

Always use the parking brake. If you don't, you are using the transmission to hold your car in place. You may say so what, but all it takes is one tard to give you a good hard bump in the parking lot to cost you big bucks.

All the time, mostly because my drive way is a slope.

I'd say get in the habit of using it all the time. I know that for myself, when I use it off and on, I sometimes forget when it's on, and drive half a block before I realize it.

On a side note, before I engage the parking brake, I'll take the car out of Drive and put it in Neutral. Then I'll engage the parking brake, then go to Park on the transmission. I guess it's my cheap insurance against wear and tear on the transmission, since I'm ensuring the car is resting against the brake and not anything else.

i use it to do some pretty good 180's in the parking lots or if the road isn't wide enough to make a u turn and traffic is coming quick just slam it to the floor turn push to release and bam beats going an extra 10 blocks to do the turnaround the right way

Its easier to do with the 04TL with the handbrake vs. the foot brake in the previous tl's

So I mean, When you put your car in park, is it not in brake mode?

What does the parking brake help do, your car aint gonna move since the parking gear already puts the car on brakes..

The rear wheel isn't locked if you don't have your parking brake on. On a steep hill the car can still roll.

Hand brakes are more fun than foot brakes when making 90 degree angle turns on ice.

I do it. Its better to be safe than sorry. Why do you guys want to have your transmission gears holding your car in place? The e-brake is specifically meant to hold your car there, in ADDITION to being placed in Park.

This is like not using your seatbelt and expecting your airbag to save you.
