Same here , will be keeping the car for a while. nice car like everything about it. Looked at the new ones , and smaller and doesn't feel comfortable. Received the letter on Thursday, and read it through later . Doesn't seem to have much Teeth legalwise Honda will probably arbitrate the whole matter . At this time no car comapny wants to alienate customers as GM did to me. All, and all for me Honda products where way better than My Olds 88( in the shop for everything), Chev Celebraty( bad motor), and Monte Carlo( bad electrics).

I purchased an Acura Care warranty just to extend my warranty for the transmission issue... Got a 7 year contract which doesn't actually start until January 2007 (when my factory warranty runs out)...

I wonder if I can cancel my extended warranty and what kind of reimbursement/refund I would be eligible for... I know that the contract actually starts the day I bought it, even though it is not really a benefit until my factory warranty ends...

Any one know how the cancellation/refund works? I read the contract and I can only get a full refund if I cancel within 60 days of the effective date (which, again, I believe is the day that I signed the contract)... Otherwise it is based on the lesser of the prorated time or prorated miles...

Dang it! Never mind...

I just checked my VIN at the settlement site... And my car is not included in the settlement...

They just use the same criteria that Honda uses to determine inclusion in their own extended warranty campaign... I know my 2003 TL-S was not included in that campaign either...

Eh im not too worried about it. I mean I had one of the new trannys put in about a year ago which are supposed to be the good ones so I think im covered for awhile. Although I dont like the way it shifts its not fast and smooth (at least in the lower gears.) but as long as it keeps on running its fine with me. I mean nobody who has there tranny replace after 02/05 has had a failure yet so Im not going to worry about it.

even if you did have a failure it doesnt necessarily mean they all will . Sometimes things jsut do break. Ever buy something that didnt work when you bought it?

Yeah I got mine too and my car is used and it has currently 93K on it. About a month ago, my tranny stared to make grinding noises at times when it shifted. I said to myself..WTF..this is going to cost me an arm and a leg and my first born to get this fixed. Next thing I know, I get this letterin the mail about the class action lawsuit. I threw my hands in the air in rejoice!!!! I am assuming this is the problem. But there is a possibility that on Dec. when the final judgement will be entered, Acura has the right to appeal, although the letter explains that Honda will probably not. We can only hope that they don't. A new or rebuilt warrantied tranny would be nice...especially when it is free!!!

My understand is they must sent that letter to the 2nd owner (coincidently?). I didn't see why 2nd owner have it but not 3rd's.

You arent getting any money. The Dollar figures you saw are what they are expecting it to cost acura for the warranty extension, and it also stated they believe it will be alot higher than that

Just got a letter telling me about a potential out-of-court settlement on the Acura transmission problems. The big winners are the lawyers. The second-place winner is Honda (they extend warranty 9K and still get to decide who gets a new tranny. The loser are the owners. I am sending a letter Objecting to the settlement and will withdraw from the settlement. Comments?

Don't want any money. Acura gave me a loaner for free, replaced my transmission under warranty and it's fixed...end of story for me

No money for you, unless you are one of the lawyers.

and whats more, acuras are great cars, they have high performance value, theyre fun to drive, they last a long time, and not to mention theyre as hell. so even if i stood to make money off of acura, id never sue them.

I still don't get it. Why all this battle for an extra 9,000 miles. It just doesn't make any sense here. Did the battle start before the 100k warranty and they just felt like finishing it off, not grasping the concept of sunk cost? This whole thing just rubs me the wrong way. That and this estimate of 90 million, where is that coming from? Is that from 101k-109k? So strange..

So let me get this right, as of right now if you feel that your tranny is about to wear out you can simply just goto the dealership and see about getting a new tranny as long as your car is one of the cars that is on the list and you meet the (1) and (2) right?
I have 01 TL with about 106K, i replaced my tranny once about 3 years ago and i may go out or start to go out at any time then heh?

from what i gathered if you have reciepts of the replacement(tranny), once settlement goes through you will be able to be refunded the cost. my problem with all of this is the extended warrenty i had purchased i called the warrenty folks and they told me they would not do a thing. so maybe i should object any thoughts?

What's this got to do with whether Acura is going to replace a tranny that's not broken?
