CEL on 99 TL, HELP!

Hey fellas

This is my first time on a forum but everytime I have a problem with my Audi I go to the forums so here I go.

My dad has a 99 Acura TL, Stock since he won't let me do anything except for tires. Pirelli Pf Zero nero M + S.

I'm a newb to this stuff since i've dealt mostly with german cars. The timing belt was done at 105k, pretty much everything soft was replaced. Oil changed every 3 k miles, all of the maintenance done at the dealer but all of a sudden a cehck engine light. Should I get a vag-com to read it or should i go to an autozone and have them read the codes?

or is it something obvious that is happening to the car that i should know about. Thanks guys. Hopefully its nothing big at all.

The CEL can indicate a variety of problems, some minor, some serious. One minor cause can be traced to a loose gas cap.

But I would get the code read in any case.

so i can go to any autozone and get it checked up?

Im just a little scared cause I hope its not the transmission going on us.

BTW what is a good site to get cheap parts such as sway bars and strut bars to help strengthen the handlijng without doing a drastic change that they will notice.(ie: drop)

It's best to call your local Autozone to see if they will do it for free.

Buying a code reader is another option. You can get basic models for less than $50.

I agree. Call your local auto parts stores and see if they do free code reading. Once you get the code come back here and we can help.

As for good prices on parts, Check out our vendors found here.
