When I do that it seems to shut off the airflow altogether. The airflow is definitely not the same "speed" as it was prior to pressing the A/C off (if I set fan speed to 1, air moves noticeably. Once I press A/C off the air just stops)

Move top down. I first select where the air is going to go to....then I select AC off..then I select the fan speed. The AC light should be off. If you still doubt that the AC is off...try comparing it when you press AC ON. You'll definitely be able to tell the difference.

If you have the AC to the OFF "position" out side air will blow in when your car is moving. Otherwise, I noticed that playing with the temp guage and set it to a higher degree will help.

This seems to be the trick. If I do it in any other order I always seem to get A/C. Go figure. Thanks edgalang

I turn AC off and hit the button for the fan speed I want. Dial in the temperature like you are adjusting a manual temperature knob that has blue and red color keys that are usually overlapping in other vehicles. I found that by dialing a low temp relative to ambient allows "cooler' air to flow through the vents and a higher temp results in "hotter" air. I think dialing in the temp bleeds hot coolant into the heater core and heats up the ambient air. One of these days I will have to read the owner's manual to see how to operate the darn thing. For now I can get pretty comfy.

LOL.....I Made SURE I read that damn manual cover to cover. Both the Navs and the Regular one. Although I'm still shaky when it comes down to plotting NAV points and editing them on the fly.

I've got the nav and I'm playing around with the climate controls and it appears as though my only choices are off, auto or manual a/c. In both auto and manual a/c, it seems as though the a/c is always on. If it's a nice sunny day and I've got the sunroof and windows down, how can I get the front vents to blow just outside air in? If I go to the touch screen and choose A/C off, and then press a fan speed, I can feel the compressor kick on and the air coming through is definitely chilled, even though the "A/C on" light is not activated.

Try pressing the A/C button itself to toggle it on or off. I don't have the Nav but that is how I do it.

The manual might have even more info.
