What up MN peeps, I was wondering if I was the only one here. I live in Maple Grove. MQMH_03, shoot, you are right around the corner from me.
I guess my main question is, where is a good tint shop? I got jacked by the Maple Grove cops a while back on my other car. I had 20% tint on my doors and 5% on the back. I am originally from Colorado, so they don't care there. But I was here for 3 years and finally got nailed. $105 fine and I took off the tint on the doors, but left the 5% on the back for now.
I want to get my TLs tinted, but where is a good place here in the cities to get it done. I don't want no crappy tint install on my new baby. Plus, do you think anyone would do 35% all around vs the state law of 50%? If not, I am headed to Colorado on business and may drive my car there and get them tinted by my usual tint shop and get 35% doors and 20% rear.
Plus, any good places to take the Acuras for fender rolling, spring installs, places like that. I suppose you could say "tuner" shops.
Let me know. Is there a TLs group here also?

Let me tell ya, it's crazy. Whenever I drive my TLs or my Accord, I always got some kat in sooped up Civic with an erector set type spoiler and mismatch body panels trying to race me. It's gets old and I ain't got time for it. This one kid in a busted azz Accord tried to flex on me on 94 and Broadway. You know he had to get straight dusted by my TLs. Then, I was gettting off on 35W south and got stuck in traffic. He tries to flash his hazards on me like he took me or something. Get a grip sucka. Funny, I am from Colorado, I see you just left there.

wassup MN TLer's ! I live in Brooklyn Park .... Have seen a few Tl's around in the Twin Cities, but not too many .... anyways.. i have to agree, too many ricers trying to hard to modify a car... people think if they add a park bench spoiler and some nozzle lights that their car is bad -azz haha! i went to totino-grace hs and this one kid had a hyundai tiburon and he definitely riced it to hell. He had a injen intake, but he puts a injen and k&n air filter sticker on his back window... two air filter types ... what the hell? anyways... CJITTTY... I pmed you and concerning the tinting.. Sun Control is a very good place... THey worked exclusively for Buekle Acura... I got 35 % on all my windows except the windshield and it was the high end metallic film- they use formula one -ultima series tinting if any of you guys have heard of this before... where is Sartell? by the way.... we should organize a meet... I actually know a few other people right in my neighborhood who have TL's... this one guy down the block has a clean ass debadged black TLS.... have you guys ever gone down to Porky's on the weekends? i saw a two EVO's just ripped a mustang GT to pieces a few days ago... hit me up..... later Mike

what up Mike. The meet sounds cool. I did my first major mod today and put on my OEM body kit. Pics tomorrow, I promise. I cannot believe the difference in the way my car looks. I knew it would be tight, but dayyam! It was pretty straight forward, the forum helped a grip!!
It looks perfect with the kit. I am going to leave it "spoiler-less" until I can perhaps find a good flush type wing.
Sun Control huh? I copped my ride at Buerkle. I had a bad experience with metallic tint before in South Dakota. It basically "metalized" and became a mirror. Got me jacked up by the po-pos a few times in South Dakota. I want a nice 35% smoke tint for the doors and 20% smoke for the rear. Probably get jacked up here for that. I already got jacked for my 20% doors and 5% rear on my Honda. But took three years to get stopped after coming from Colorado.
Anyhow, never been to Porky's. Strip club? How about a quick meet and greet at Lake Calhoun or something?

Sartell is by St. Cloud. Think of Sartell as the Edina of this area. Lots of money in this town. We ought to get together one of these days and have a meet. My last car i got the tint done at Gjerdes Solar Shield in Savage. They do excellent work.

Hey, Another Tl owner checking in. I used to live in Maple Grove, but moved to the sticks... Isanti. No other TL's in this redneck town. I too would be interested in a meet.

CJITTY, this is mike again- the metallic tint really is not metallic, it just has metallic properties and lasts longer than the dyed films- it has a lifetime warranty and actually doesn't turn purple like the other tints. i' ll try to get pics of my car with the 35 % tints from Sun Control on here.... I am out of town right now...

Porky's is where all the muscle cars and few ricers meet and cruise the strip on the weekends... it is down on University in St. Paul... I like to just park down the street and watch stoplight drags or people get pulled over by the numerous cops..haha good times...

Hey MQ,
Pics would be great, can't wait to see what that looks like. I don't want a reflective looking tint though. From my experience, that is a cop magnet! I actually cruised University just the other day. I don't get it...cruisin the strip means flossin real slow, not doing 45 down a city street. In Colorado, we would cruise Nevada Ave in Colorado Springs. Cars would go about 15-20 mph and be "seen". I noticed here, everyone always wants to race. Which is cool for some, but for me, I can't afford to get cased up by the po-po's. Too much at stake with my gov't job.
For other MN and surrounding area folks, Check out the "meet" forum on this board. I have a thread going about an informal meet n greet.

You have to go on like friday and sat nights... when did you go? I have to admit there are a lot of cops... but it is really cool to see all those cars... yeah.. everyone always wants to race... i love taking 252 home from school... those lights are perfect... not too many cops... i got a radar detector too so its not too bad... that is true though everyone always wants to race... especially the civics or cavaliers with fart cans... it always makes me smile
just because they think they put on a exhaust and rims doesn't mean their 127 hp or 150 or is wickedly fast..... CJITTTY- by the way... don't race on Elm st or main street in Maple Grove... I got pulled over for my tints and blasting my radio there a few times... those cops are mean... anyways... that meet sounds great.... we could even meet in Uptown or something...

Post something in the Off-Topic > Car meets thread. Maybe that will turn up interest. The admin wants to keep away from threads like this because this isn't really specific to 2nd gen TL issues.
