Another Dissapointing TL Story

Hello I am a very satisfied TL-S owner ( soon to be ex) I have been EXTREMELY HAPPY with the excellent service at the dealer but just dissapointed at the fit and finish quality of my TL-S. My 2002 TL-S only has 15K and and it rarely sees daylight since it is always parked in the garage. But, recently I had problems with my inside door handes warping from heat (although dealer replaced it under warranty graciosly) and also my rear view mirror leaked out fluid which blemished my console. (also both replaced under warranty) I am dissapointed with the quality of parts used by Acura and I think that they should understand that temperature inside the car could reach over 110 degrees very easily in the summer.

Oh well enjoyed the car and will still be checkin' in from time to time for new info.

thanks for listening.

yeah, something doesn't sound right. even when it's been 100 degrees here (and yes it has been) i don't remember seeing anyone talking about that problem. i think you got a dud man. sorry to hear it though. the mirror thing has been happening lately and really is fucked up. good luck with everything.

Sorry to hear that. But in my book, nothing beats the TL-S in the bang-for-the-buck ratio. It's luxurious enough, quick, and draws the crowd.

What are you replacing her with?

By the way, what are you doing with the Mugen spoiler? If you're going to sell it, let me know.

Yes, and when it ruptures it spews and eats through whatever it comes in contact with.

The fluid I've heard is for the auto dimming night feature.

Ha...just be glad you don't live in the snow belt. Those guys have anywhere from rust, potholes and black ice to worry about. I'll take heat anyday over snow & ice.

hmm thats some strange problems (especially the mirror leaking)
i doubt that its the heat... because here in california the inside of my car can reach 120 on a hot day and none of those problems i have had. good thing they have been replaced without charge. lets hope everythings fixed by now!

I also have noticed a LOT of small and numerous fit and finish quality problems:

- Dimming rear view mirror failure (thankfully no leak).
- Rear door arm rests warped (both sides)
- Front door chrome door hangle cover warped.
(Razor sharp edge slashed my finger!)
- Brake rotors warped.
- Interior rattles and squeaks

If the tranny holds I'll feel like it is a fairly doof value but if it goes that changes the
whole equation. It's a shame that the tranny is problematic. If they had a good one
this car would be a great vehicle. Even though mines has not failed the way that
it shifts is awful. Sharp hard shifts when cold, drags when coasting, etc.

The engine is killer. The tranny a POS.

I thought Honda had bested or at least equaled Toyota in quality and reliability.
Not so. I've had three Toyotas. All flawless.

Pflueger Acura is great when it comes to customer service. I also ran into the separating rear armrest and non-functional dimming rear view mirror. The leaking mirror problem is more common than you may think.
Enjoy your bimmer.
