Angry Another DEAD TRANNY

Well, it finally happened to me.
Brought the car in for one problem, the idler pulley was whinning, and I mentioned that I have noticed some hard shifting, and that the tranny oil was darkish brown, and I was told that I am going to need a new tranny.
Could be 3 weeks, they are on national backorder.
My TLS was bought in Jan of this year, and was manufactured in Jan of this year, its a 2002.

I was also told that they idler pully is bad, seperate issue from tranny.
Now I get to drive POS Ford Focus.

Tech was nice, told me that dying trans has no relationship to how you drive, its all related to the clutch packs, they are breaking down and that he has only seen a few so far.
The order of repairs is as follows:
First flush, test drive. If car runs fine, I get the car back,if not:
Replace solenoids, test car, if it doesnt run fine, then:
Replace tranny.
This absolutely fvcking sucks.
I can tell you all that is doesnt matter how you drive the tranny, my car is stock, I havent really stomped on it, infact I know that I have really run hard on some of my other cars and they held up very well. In 20 years of driving, this is the first time I have ever had to replace a tranny, let alone replacing it at 7 months and 7100 miles.

Sorry guy...some of us understand how you feel!

Make sure you get full sign off from the dealer that they are paying for your rental. My tranny was replaced 5 months ago...dealer said they would pay for rental car...then rental car company puts $210 in charges on my charge card in July...seemed when they turned the bill over to dealer, dealer wouldn't pay for it all...I have been fighting with them for a week...will the nightmare of the dead tranny NEVER die??!!??!!??

Now I know how the rest of you feel, I always felt sympathy, but I didnt really need to feel it that true to life.
As for getting Acura to pay, I routinely re-issue my credit card whenever I think that there might be a billing issue, this way they dont have a valid card # to work against, so I guess after this is over with, I will have my CC re-issued.
I have a call into the zone service rep, lets see what they can do for me, anyone have any suggestions what to ask for, or what exectations to have.

My friend got them to pay his car payment for a month. Tranny failures in a 30k car is plain ol unnacceptable in my book, but some people also don't vote.

the moral of these stories - drive as hard as you can and have fun, or it will probably break anyway, even if you drive like a grandma.

my tranny went at 17,000 miles, it's a 02 tls purchaced in july of 01. just started sliping when shifting from low gears. my dealer was fairly cool about the situation, put the wife in a rental {mitsubishi lancer} what a gem of enginuity that was! it was about 3 weeks and we received our tls back. being a loyal honda owner for 12 years, {civic, accord, both bought new, never a problem with either} this was not expected and very upsetting. if it happens again {and i've heard that it has} i will be going with toyota/lexus. ps. one would think with all of honda expierence in formula 1 and indy that they could get that part of the drivetrain right!

Formula 1 and Indy have manual trannies. This is an AT problem.
