Another Bullshlt Type S

I'm driving on the highway on the way home and i see a dropped type s with gigantic exhaust tips. As i am pulling up I noticed something wasnt right, he has a type S badge but amber tails. Agian I am like what the hell? Does this seriously make people feel more powerful? Granted he had type S wheels, his little friends prolly believe that he is running 260 strong horses. Anyway, everytime i lined up with him he wouldnt do anything, then when i just looked away he would take off, the funny thing is that i would catch and pass him everytime. Finally he did his little wait thing but i just got on it and booked, i saw him try to catch up, but i was up enough for me to mistake another white car for his. He drove behind me for another 3-4 miles and wouldnt pass me. I would switch lanes and so would he. It was funny, freakin poser. Im bored and at work so read my story and love it

I can't believe you beat an M5!

Just kidding...I'm starting to see a few of these around here. In fact, I saw a white TSX Tuesday with the factory kit and some aftermarket wheels, and he had a Type-S badge on it. Roit. Whateva. He looked liked he wanted a little but I had it in s/s and just kinda let 2nd wind up gradually and the Injen roared in vtec and it about broke his neck looking left. Needless to say he didn't bother...Poser #2...

oh why!!! why would you do that? I have a few stickers you can add to your car if you'd like. I think each sticker is like 15 horses.
Why must people pretend to have something they don't? Just take both off and let people guess what you have.

I hate poseurs. I pulled up next to a guy in a '94 Vette yesterday, with a ZR1 emblem on the bumper. Automatic car (no auto ZR1s were made).

Its the cheapest way to add preformance, screw the Comptech Header, Exhaust, Supercharger or even a Nitrous Kit, A few TYPE-S Badges and we're straight!!! HAHAHA !!! Maybe I'll get the TYPE-S Liscence Plate Frame and see what that does to my 1/4 mile time... I'll keep u posted!!

This is why I added the emblems to my fenders and keep an extra one inside my armrest. I've got it all over the non-s/c TL-S's out there!

Yeah but it's not a Type S. It's like a 330 putting an M3 emblem on the back. You just don't do it.

If you're not close enough to peek inside the TL Type-S-in-question, look at the headrests. The real Type-S ones are triangular and hollow, whereas the fake ones are big and solid.

But the interior tells it all. There is just too much stuffs for the fake TL to swap out - instrument panels, steering wheel, door leather trims, headrests, seat leather covers, shiftknob, etc.

mzcomplex,

For you I guess it was the right choice to get a TL-P rather then a TL-S....but that's not the issue. The issue is why would you mark your car as a Type S when it's not

I put a Type-S badge on mine, but I also put the 'R' from an Integra Type-R. I had to shave away the "type" but once done it looks good. So now I have a Type-SR.

When ricers ask me where I got a Type-SR I just tell them it's JDM.

LOL! That's a good one.
Hmm... I have few wall papers which gives you additional 150 horses to kill a M5. :p

Tell me your joking.... That is 100x worse than putting just the Type S on it...

Hmm, take your "R", go to the local junkyard and cut up an old Civic S"i" emblem, a Mercedes "C" class, and an old Acord "E"X and you'll have Type-RiCE...

ghey...

I agree with Mr. and Darkshear. That is worse. ALOT worse.

And that is the same reason why I don't put it on my TL-P. It was just remind me that I should have just shelled out the xtra bucks and got the TL-S.

So basically, don't try to be something your not and don't try to create a badge that doesn't exist unless it's actually cool.

Looks? It doesn't make your car look any different. You just smacked an incorrect emblem on there. Can't you see where we are all coming from. Like I said it's like putting an M3 emblem on a 330 and you can clearly tell that it is not.

A little bit of a "pseudo" something makes people feel they have more power than what they actually have. Like those ricers who put 17s an 18s on wee little Civic hatches who don't realize the bigger rims actually slow down their car because of the added weight. Driving as if they have the world's fastest Civic because of 3 extra inches under their wheel wells. Or those with the extra-large adjustable wings for the "added down-force" these cars probably haven't seen 120 mph let alone do it constantly, their little hatchbacks would fall into pieces if they did.

I guess is is somewhat of an expression of people verbalizing what they actually want from what they actually have. A form of insecurity perhaps. Like those 5 series with M badges all over the place, or someone with a " CLK 320 AMG" ???

What I can say is if you wanted altezza lights why didn't you buy a Lexus, or the same as those "poseur HID" blue bulbs which makes more glare than actual usable light.

Whether a small emblem or a window sticker or an overly sized muffler tip, anything to boost the ego, and to compensate what was lacking.

One reason I saved for a Type-S is that I didn't want to "pose" as another car or modify my car to look like something it is not. I have factory stock 260HP, HID headlights and 17" rims. For me that is a Type-S.

If it is a small emblem that makes them happy, whatever gives them a woody, they're only fooling themselves. No matter how much money you spent on your car, or how you juice 500+ HP from it , it's still not a Type-S.

Why don't they just score a V-12 emblem from an old SL 500, I think that would be much more powerful don't you think? Or a Ferrari horse to give that exotic feel.

Reminds me of a "Fiero Testarossa" - Live the dream Baby!

Are you a Type-S personality. I know I am.......

I plan on removing the Type-S from my car and getting some stock 16" TLP wheels! Maybe even getting the amber tails so that some unsuspecting a$$hole trys to roll up on me and gets smoked.......on second thought I'll leave it as is.

Doesn't really bother me when TLPs put an S-badge on their car except that if they get smoked some monkey is gonna brag how he beat a type-S, blah, blah, blah. They are basically the same car except for subtle differences as mentioned.

My friend is trying to talk me into putting the 16's on the car, debadging the "S" and swapping tails and the headrests after I get the s/c installed...It's a great sleeper idea, but I couldn't hack it (no offense you TL-P'ers)...

The only visble cue on my vehicle about it being anything other than stock is inside the car. Only if you see these you would assume I am stock:

Looks? For the poseur, it's all about image. Style before substance. Sad.
you'll have Type-RiCE
Now, THAT's funny!

scalbert- that's not a poseur boost gauge, is it? I've seen those on a few cars that don't really have any FI.

scalbert: It shows a bit blacked out in the pic--is that the gauge pod you posted about or are you still waiting for it?
