Another benefit of driving a 2G TLP

It suddenly dawned on me today when a cop had nonchalantly passed by while I was over the speed limit: Cops always seem to ignore my car!

In the past eight years that I have owned my TL, I have only once been stopped by a cop, and that was only because he thought I wasn't wearing seat belt. (I was so no ticket. And this happened in South Dakota of all places.)

It was a different story when I was driving an Audi A4: I got stopped more frequently while I more or less had the same driving habit as I do now.

Seeing that the majority of people driving 2G TLP these days are the elderly, I believe the cops have profiled my car type to be quite innocuous.

This of course means I'm driving a "geezer" car which would be "uncool."
But I guess I am indeed getting old as I don't seem to mind it at all.

Lol honestly I feel you 100% on this. When I have a 97 Chevy Lumina I felt like I had free reign over the highways, never got a ticket. Now that I have my type S with stupid mufflers (that came with it) I feel like I have a giant bullseye painted on my trunk and bumper. It almost takes the fun out of a driving a fast car.

When I had my 94 Integra's I was stopped almost weekly. When I had my 05 RSX-S in VIVID blue pearl I was stopped just because the car stuck out so much. "Your car sticks out like a sore thumb so I had to stop you"

With my TL-S it's not a problem, they don't even look my way. Although I have recieved a ticket for speeding caught on radar late at night but that had nothing to do with the car it was 89 in a 55. lol

Im right on the same page man. I had a 96 Integra before I bought my TL. It was lowered, had intake and exhaust. Carbon fiber hood and all that and boy I tell ya the cops loved me. They would F with me all the time. Now that I have had my new ride for about 2 years only been pulled over once. And I admitt I was doing about 90 so I can understand why.

Sorry for the offensive comment, but the cops around my way are really really nasty in some parts of broward county. Back when i was in west virginia, the ones there were pricks for being racis (many news stories) . I've never seen one of my friends go through so much shit for no reason. Clean license, clean history, I would even be with him in the car going under the speed limit and he'd get pulled over and given shit for doing nothing.

I feel that the TL is a great car as far as not getting pulled over. I flew by a cop going 55 in a 30 zone, thought, "oh shit," but he just waved as I drove by. God, I love this car!

Crazyfool, comments like that only make me like you less.

I've never been pulled over in my TL and I typically go 10-20 over the limit although I do look out for cops.

my rights are compromised everytime im in a specific town right by my house. i get stopped regularly, and i dont have front tint (which is illegal here) not dropped no rims no exhaust nothing but an oem kit and oem spoiler, and i never get ticketed since they dont have me guilty of doing anything. i drive with cruise control on in that town, but im always stopped and questioned about where "the drugs are" or asked the last time i smoked in my car. i also had a cop one time make up a speed limit to pull me over (was doing about 49 in a 50, cop told me it was a 40 i then drove back up the street to find its a 50 all the way down the road) so my car isnt :stealth: by any means. the stops are always at night, and i guess they figure im doing something wrong, but still that gives them no right to pull me over because there is no probable cause except for the time of day lol.

i just got pulled over for the first time yesterday. did an illegal U-turn(didnt see any signs) but the cop let me go because he liked the car. two years and only getting pulled over once take that anyday.

Cops don't pay much attention to me either, last time I was pulled over for tint, no front plate and rear license plate cover, he let me go because he said "thats a really sharp car, I like it a lot. It just got you out of a few tickets." lol

Wow, I didn't realize cops love TL that much!
Last Summer, I remembered I drove +50 on the 35 on the rainy day, at the time I saw the cop offside of the street, I did slow down and was thinking It's too late, but, he didn't follow me at all, and I always thought it's because he didn't want to get wet.

I think people need to relax ... guy's voicing his opinion (as ignorant as it is). I definitely do not condone such opinions. Best thing to do put that guy on the 'block list'.

And crazyfool -- you have been warned. Talking about death (about anyone) ... I don't really care for, nor anyone else here. Nothing to do with a 2nd gen TL. 55 posts and already talking smack?

I like it stealth... the real crime are tl owners who slap on ugly rims, limo tint, and slam their cars down to the ground....

why bring the TL down to the same level as sentras and civics.... is beyond me.

I am an old guy running sweet 18 inch Enkeis, a standard drop on Tein SS and other than tinted rear windows- she is the stealthmeister~
All the other mods are are hidden and the exhaust is stock so it doesnt raise any eyebrows.

All you have to do is keep the car washed and waxed, that cuts down on 1/2 the cop attention. People with clean cars are good law abiding citizens with valid license and insurance! No need to waste their time on that car.
They want cars with illegal mods- stolen cars/parts are a big thing they find on the `loudly` modded cars with street racer mods- think slammed civic or integra- fast and furious look.
Maybe there are weapons or drugs or warants on all the occupants too! what a bonus on a basic speeding stop!!

My buddies with modded HD bikes (are there stock HDs?) got pulled over by a bike cop for too loud of stereo on one of them~ Everyone had proper papers and washed-clean rides. The officer only cautioned about using blue colored accent lights on the public road- even gave advice that it was cool to do on private property! He nicely overlooked all the illegal helmets and exhaust pipes because everyone was courteous to him- they got that back.

The TL is not so stealthy against radar, which nabbed my wife at 52 in a 35= $250 fine.
I was just glad she was already on the brakes to make a u-turn and they thought she was going to continue straight down the road towards them~
Made me remove the tint on the front door windows-no $ penalty, and now I am totally legal in their eyes and not worth a 2nd glance.

lol, radar sucks. No discrimination!

Otherwise

Night driving:

Driving lights on = blip on the screen

Driving lights off = subdued and blending in with surroundings
