well if you think saving 1.5% of your cars overall weight for the chance of being stranded with a flat is worth it...you are crazy.

50 lbs doesn't matter. I don't have mine just because I needed a place to mount my nitrous bottle and run the lines so the tire was cut. Still have the jack and what not. Rather just get my car towed instead of fucking the camber up.

remove all the seats, remove windshield glass and put flexiglass instead, use rim 12 with 165x70 tires if you can find one. remove all the door panels just leave the plastic covering. I'm sure that will make your car alot lighter. hehehe

I took it out to make space to install caraudio...
but I've never had any problem because if I have a punk tire with accidents, I should call the insurace......that is why I took spare tire out...

It's a legitimate question. Some people would rather save the weight and carry a couple of cans of fix-a-flat instead.

Personally, I would rather keep it in just in case. You never know when it might come in handy.

ok guys... Listen to me... its not worth it... Cuz I've made my mistake taking out my spare tire for weight reduction.... i ended up with a nail in my tire last month....

I almost made it home but my tire blew....

so i had to call and find a friend for a whole hour to go get my spare tire from my garage....

lucky this is in the city and i was like 20 blocks away from home.....damnit...so close/.......

If i was on the high way.... then i'm screwed.... its gonna be a long day

Better safe then .01 seconds faster...

The risk really isn't worth it. You won't miss it until it's gone. But if you insist, at least get one of those "Fix-A-Flat" in a can deals. They won't fix sidewall damage, but it's better then nothing.

Dont do it!!!

it does not make sense to take the spare out.
Yes every pound counts when you try to make your car faster.

Only time I would take the spare out would be when I actually take my car to time it at the track.

if you have light weight cars like Civic or Lotus Ellise ( ) yes 50 lb is a lot. But our cars weigh over 3200 lbs. I would consider removing it if I can get my car below 3,000 lbs.

How about light weight rims? this will give you great performance (shorter stopping distance and acceleration). and running no more than 1/2 tank of gas at a time.

This is the 16th year that I haven't had to use my Life Insurance policy, and I hope I won't have to anytime soon...

I still pay my premiums...

Doesnt the nsx and new accord hybrid come with some fix a flat type stuff to cut down on weight too? My friend worked in sears auto b4 and all the tire guys there say it throws the car off balance and they usually have to take the tire off and clean out the rim. I guess its not that bad if ur gonna need a new tire anyways

Talking

Hey, if you blame him for taking out his spare tire. Blame Honda too! The new Accord Hybrids doesn't come with a spare tire! They come with a can of flat-fix and a pump. I'm not joking.

now may i ask how you would possibly mess up your camber with a spare?????? ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! spares wont ruin your car. Id rather take 5 min to put m spare on then PAY and wait to have the car towed! removing it is pointless, and hopes to shave 200 lbs out of the car is pointless. you want a light weight car? buy a lotus. this is a luxury SEDAN not a drag car.

I blew out 2 tires out last 2 months ago. Luckily I had my spare and one of my friends had a TL too. Sometimes you just never know what the future will hold. Only way I would justify myself to take out the tire is if I didn't have to make a 500 mile one way trip every 3 months and I had some kind of custom box.

How about you just go to the gym and lose 50lbs yourself? That typically helps.... Being a 115lb female, I've already got that 50lb advantage on ya....

Sorry man, I have AAA, and I'm not betting mine or my family's safety on getting stranded for a few pounds.

All about risk/reward, I think you need to re-evaluate

Funny you should bring that up...

I remember in my biking days, I used to know people who would replace steel screws with titanium screws to shave a few ounces here and there on their bicycle... and the argument back then was the same as you mention...

Lose some weight before starting to spend gobs of money shaving ounces off of the screws!!!

A bit off topic, but you reminded me of this...
