They made it work on the new RL:
I'm sure you can get it to work on the TL as well, if you have a black interior. You'll have to find the right combo though.

I also have the tan interior with the burlwood trim. I have posted several threads and asked how the aluminum dash kit would look with the tan interior and no one has responded with any pictures except with the black interior.
Well, I just ordered a brushed aluminum dash kit last week and will volunteer to be the lab rat.
Before I do the install, I will try to tape the aluminum dash kit over the existing dash just to give me some idea of how it will look. If I don't like how it looks, I have 30 days to return or exchange it.
I have also bought a second pair of center trim pieces that I will paint black to try incase the stock burlwood doesn't go with the aluminum. I'll take several pictures and will post them for all to see, even if I choose not to install them.
I need to mention that when I bought my 2000 TL a few months ago, it came with the aftermarket burlwood oem match dash kit. It looked OK, but I have never been a fan of the fake woodgrain look.
Since I think the stock dash looks way too plain, I've been trying to imagine other alternatives. The aluminum kit is the only other kit I've looked at that I think might work. I've had a few other vehicles that have had aluminum dash kits with tan interiors that looked pretty good. Althought none of them had had burlwood trim.
I should be doing the mock installation next weekend (If I get the kit in this week).
I'll forward the pictures when I'm done.

This pic isn't quite as good. I actually believe with the blackwood the aluminum wouldn't look so bad. The wood from the tan interior though would be gross.

I just found out that my aluminum dash kit will not ship out until the 29th.
Everyone will have to wait to see an actual tan interior TL with the aluminum dash kit.

ok..I am struggling to find a 'Real' aluminium dash kit for my 2003 3.2 TL with Nav. Does any one know where can i get that. Everywhere I have looked, i think the only kit they have is the Synthetic Brushed alum. I am sure some ppl would have real alum. Synthetic just doesn't cut for me...

Will the paint color match the aluminum dash kit? if ne one is interested in selling thier black burlwood pieces im willing to trade ;-) Also where can i buy the diamond cut floor mats and the matching medals, i cant find ne where that makes them for my 2000 TL.
