Alternator replacement...
Alternator replacement...
Tuesday 8 days ago I was on my way home at 11:30 pm and -6F and battery light and brake light came on. Luckily, it was only 1m away from home. Wednesday morning checked the battery and it was 12,5V but when I started the car on battery was only 11.8V. I knew negative cable is ok because car start without problem and positive looked ok too so concluded it is alternator. It was snow Wednesday, then polar bomb than Christmas. So, I went to you-pull on Monday and did replacement today. This is video to follow. Power steering reservoir needs to be moved away in order to pull out alternator. It barely fit through. I went to you pull because alternator for type s is rare, 120A, and nobody had it at hand. Edit. I didn't disconnect the power steering hose at reservoir than at pump so it leaked less. Put below the hose a plastic bag than another plastic bag in pipe at ps pump and it did hold till I'm done.

My 99 is due for an alt or rebuild, it's whining on me at 133k miles.
I have one sitting and waiting to throw in, as well as a new serpentine belt, valve gaskets, and plugs. Just now waiting for the weather to warm up because I don't have a garage, plus it's not a rush for me since it's only a grocery getter and not my daily. After all that shit is done, then I have wheel bearing (won't do it myself), trans flush (maybe do it), lower control arms (won't do it), wiper arm fix (i'll tackle this one), timing belt (won't do it), valve adjustment (on the fence)..and a couple more that I can't remember. I'm newish to car repair besides simple bolts on, so it should be fun especially since there is no pressure.
I have already done the EGR cleaning and IAVC.
Good times
