alternative to 99tl stereo headunit issues

ok, my tl sucks when it comes to playing cd-rs more advanced than 16x. i have 2 fixes in mind:
buy 16x cd-rs from God knows where
get a new hu or changer

as for buying new 16x cd-rs, does anyone have any specific site? cos i've tried to buy online on several occasions only to discover that what was sold was 48x or 52x, as opposed to the advertised 16x.

as for changing the hu, i'm skeptical about modifying the console, or removing the steering wheel features. it prolly boils down to the cost. has anyone changed the hu (not under warranty) or bought a changer? how much did it cost and how do u feel with the new mod?

thanks

Media doesn't matter. It's how fast you burn it. Try burning the CD at 8x or 12x. Works everytime for me.

not true! ive tried just about every type out there and just about every speed. its hit and miss with our factory pos headunit. one brand may work one time but the next pack you buy it, it wont work. it never made a difference what speed i burned them at.
just get a 2003 TL headunit or replace it with a aftermarket HU

Lightbulb

Hey, I just got a 99 TL a few weeks ago and found out many of my CDRs don't work as well. But the ones that do work are the cheap ones, such as Khypermedia CDRs from Officemax. I burn at 24X and it's worked everytime.Good luck!

Use Memorex...they are the best brand...and if you use the cheep ass cds then they wont last!!! Also burn it at a slower speed, at least you will have a better chance of it working.

Best case....get a new system!!!!
