Also cleaned the throttle body

Well after reading this post I decided to see just what mine looked like.

It took me just about an hour which included a ride to the store to buy carb cleaner. Wow, was it dirty. I don't think it was ever cleaned before and I just hit about 84K on the car.

Here are some pics....unfortunately i was so involved in cleaning that i forgot to take pics....oh well

Top:

Inside (before removed). Look at that buildup

All off:

Mostly back together:

Hmm. I am kinda glad I didn't clean it out then. I couldn't take off the last two rubber hoses that connect to the top right hand side of the intake manifold! I was pist! Took me forever to install the Spacers because of it. How did you end up getting them off!?!

Which ones. I used plyers to compress the metal tabs that hold the rubber hoses on then VERY CAREFULLY use a small flat head screw driver to push the hose off until i can do it by hand.

WOW - that EGR chamber on the intake looked COMPLETELY clogged!

Did you take the EGR valve out and clean that as well? I've noticed that most people aren't doing that - but don't know why.

cause teh egr isnt clogged, its just the very small ports in the intake that are getting clogged. last time i did mine i took the egr out and inspected those ports and stuff and they were fine
