well damnit...im not too sure what a quality weld job would look like, but i thought that looked pretty good.

Edit: it wouldnt void the engine warranty to install headers would it?

They look like good continuous welds IMO. How much were they?

Is that a hole I see in the center pipe (black line right below the weld)? I sure hope not, that would be some shitty ass quality control.

I don't think that's a hole. It looks like a reflection of the bolt hole above it.

The welds look fine. I think the OBX welds crack because of the resonance the headers produce. If it weren't for the resonance, they probably wouldn't crack either.

That is a gap. Look again, right where the weld meets the pipe on the center one. NSXNEXT has some good eyes.

This is what I was referring to. Maybe it's just me, but if I were selling them, I'd make damn sure the picture I was showing didn't show the major flaws.

Good eyes NSTNEXT! I couldn't see squat until you circled it in red. Yeah, I wouldn't touch these headers unless they were free.

Look closely at the picture. You can see the reflection of what appear to be two drop-down lamps, and the guys ceiling. The dash is the bolt hole on the center top. If you look to the immediate left and right of the dash, you can see the relection of the flange around the bolt hole.

That guys problem isn't that he has a bad weld - it's that his headers are to darn shiny!

They'll fit. Just installed one last night. It's leaking a bit. I need to tighten down some more bolts.

Ok is that a "hole" or not? I just recommended Alphawerk headers on another thread, since I haven't heard anything bad about them. DAMN. MOAHDRIVEN, did you buy them??? Let us know the verdict if you bought them and the status of that "hole" Good Luck!!

I don't have a hole in my headers. They fit just fine on my '02 TL-S. all the holes lined up.

It could be like a black spot from the welding.

anyways, they seem like they could go just like OBX ones; so you're better off buying OBX SS ones...and hell, it aint worth comptechs unless you're serious about keeping the TL for like another 5years...wait dayum, i am (99TL here)

*you konw, supposing they last about 2years each...and i'm sure this new stainless stell (SS) obxs last more.

Add me to the list of TL's with alphawerks headers, I just put mine on and they fit pretty well. Mine also had no holes in it . No leaks, minor fitment issue with the gasket on the cat connection. For $240 you can't beat it. Even if they had issues (no one has reported any, btw), I can go through five sets at that price before reaching comptech's price point .

I had the same problem at the Cat connection. Everything is all good now. Re-tightened everything down after a couple of days of driving. The ECU is adjusting to the new headers nicely. I feel the response throughout the entire band now. I got a slight resonance at 2K rpm. Nothing annoying.

I highly recommend getting a set of these, if you can find one.

With that logic, why did you buy an Acura? You could have bought a few Hyundai's for the same price. When one broke down, leave it on the side of the road and buy a new one.

I don't get some of you, you spend ~$30K for a car and put shitty ass quality parts on it.

good point...

but as far as fitment issues and quality they should go like this:

1.Comptech
2.Alpha Werks
3.Stone
4.OBX

If alpha werks hold out their good feeback for many years to come then they would stay one below of comptech. And to me 2nd place from the top is still a good buy. Alphawerks are not 250 or 280 anymore. They are now like 429-479. Making them more expensive then OBX.. So that should tell you something. Better fitment issues and quality than OBX

Just my thought

The logic is this: The part's perform in exactly the same way, with a small chance of a shorter life. The logic of not buying a Hyundai, on the other hand of some guy in another world, is this: The hyundai does not look the same. The hyundai does not perform the same. The Hyundai probably would last as long as the Acura but who wants a hyundai for that long? I didn't buy an Acura for the nameplate on it, if I wanted that I would have bought a BMW. (And paid a smaller markup than for the comptech nameplate!).

Well i could tell you this. I bought the headers back in Aug for $475 at wheels next . And i rag on my cls and there is no problems at all.

There is nothing made perfect!

For the price you cant go wrong. Even if its $600.00 Look how much comptech headers are, over 1k i know comtech does not move the cls headers that well as obx, alphawerks, stone and so on.
And for people that are cheap.
Buy obx, stone and have fitment problems. But if you buy alphawerks yes it cost more but you have a no fitment problems!
