Almost fried my engine...
So i was driving home from school the other day, and CEL and VSA lights came on, so i figured my tranny was going into its death mode, and for whatever reason I didnt notice whether or not my temp gauge was high or not. About 4 or 5 miles later i pulled of at my exit and my car stalled at the light. I start and then it died right away. At the point i noticed that my temp needle was spiked the to the top so I pulled over as soon as I could. Today i towed my car to the shop and they replaced the lower radiator hose, and now all is well... or so it seems?
Is there anything i should be looking for now? i mean my car drives well and all the lights are gone, but if I've overheated my engine is there anything that could be damaged, is there any way to check without taking the motor apart?

Your head gasket is no likely to fail then it was before but generally, if it's behaving well and making the same power, there probably wasn't much damage done. If the head gasket goes you'll want to check for head warpage when you replace it. It's not worth taking it apart just to find out.
Might be a good idea to change your oil soon because you may have burned it pretty good.

Sounds like you caught it quickly
Overheating related damage usually shows up 6 months later, so dont think all is well yet.
Change the oil, and you should have new coolant?
How many miles?- are you due for a water pump?
Now I am going to change the hoses well before the 105 comes due! I knew there was more I could replace the car.

Im at 70k right now, i think i still a ways away from new water pump...
I think I have speeding up my transmission's death by overheating the fluid... do you think I should get a flush? This fluid is only 2month old...
Thats it... i drove it around today and it pulls strong, just that rougher idle now...

The rough idle issue if everything else seems good and strong, it may all be in your head. After the trauma to the car you may be being paranoid. I know if I concentrate hard enough I can always find something that I think I notice
