To all those with a CAI...do you have...

That hummmmm noise at idle? This is really an old topic and Im kinda annoyed that Im bringing it up now - but I was just wondering. read this thread for some random info...

https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...onator+removal

anyway, do you with a regular CAI (not the V2) have the hum noise? I was just wondering if all the new intakes have this noise. basically my V2 sounds exactly like it did when I had the stock airbox w/o the 2 resonators.

I really love the intake (sound and power), but the hum noise is kinda starting to wear me the wrong way.

yea, it's more like a hissing sound than a humm. i too feel the hissing gets annoying but i'm hoping the addition of an exhaust later down the road will cover it up.

I used to have the V2, there was a pretty loud hum at idle. The hum was present before I got headers, getting headers didn't change the hum. Adding CT axlebacks didn't either. I never detected a hissing sound.

The CT icebox is perfectly quiet at idle.

i like the hum. my car hums loudly at idle and I just have K&N filter and both resonators removed. It has actually grown on me.

ya so it seems that your setup and the V2 has the hum and the regular CAIs dont???

im not talking about the hissing sound - I do like that - but there is a distinct hum noise especially if you are by a wall or something (or in a parking garage like me all the time)

no I am talking about a distinct hum, a loud hum at that. not too loud, but it can be heard easily inside the car and from about 20-30ft away from my car. it started after I removed the big intake resonator on bottom of airbox and modified the one on the intake hose by taking the old one off and plugging the hole with same grade plastic and then clamping it on so it is flush inside the intake hose. I have had a K&N filter for about a year and cleaned it once already. Also I noticed the hum got a little louder after I cleaned IM, TB and EGR port when I installed the OE spacer kit. I hear more of a rumbled type hissing sound when I acclerate at low rpm's and at v-tec to WOT it is pretty loud.

i had that setup for a while.. i hated the humming noise so much with CAI's, and even the damn hum you get with the two intake resonators removed and a K&N drop in filter..

i know what you mean when it hums from the outside, even when you walk away from it. i hate it when i put it in idle and just standing outside, then all you hear is this hum droning in your head.. so i just plugged that hole back up underneath the intake tube.

but what i did do is put in a short ram setup. its loud when you hit the throttle up high in the revs, and it makes NO hum noise AT ALL during idle. its SOOO quiet at idle, but loud up top. i love it!!

ya thats exactly what I am saying - i know the hum you have because I used to have the same setup - and the current hum I hear is the exact same thing (with the V2 intake) Though I really didnt notice more sound when I put the spacers in...

ok...the hissing sound is BADASS - the hummming sound isnt so cool if you ask me - you cant hear it unless you are sitting still or against a wall. Though I put up with it for the extra power and good sound especially at VTEC.

the hissing sound is really cool trust me. it isnt bad at all.

I used to have a bypass valve and everytime it broke or split, there was a loud hum. This happened again when the rubber connector holding the two tubes together slipped off, there was a hum. Basically, check to make sure there are no holes or leaks. I only have a hum when there's a leak somewhere.
