For all doubters...TLS are quick off the line

For all those that don't believe that the TLS can hang with those V8's, well see for yourself. The TLS are rockets off the line and will compete with just about any V8's out there off the line. NovaWhiteTypeS has a CLS with headers and the car is quick off the line NO DOUBT!!

The only time it's one sided vs. a V8 is in a rolling start race, otherwise, don't underestimate these V6 BEASTS!

Okay, okay. I get your point. You don't have to be mad about it

hey that's me , Alex got his v-afc tuned at a shop in MD, after getting serveral dynos. If you want the v-afc setting for a cl-s I can get you that. A old member called BeatYaAll had H/I/E v-afc on his car and he was hitting constantly 13.~13.9 on gtech. I know i know, gtech isn't accurate but its atleast consistant. When I rode in his car, i noticed he had more power THROUGHOUT the powerband. a constant 2~3hp throught out the entire powerband is really noticable. and the v-afc also increases low end torque.

yes the typeS is quick off the line but,, on the high way it just comes to a crawl compared to the 540's v8.

Nova is right. I got it tuned in a shop in MD. I don't know why my sig still has all my ex-mods.

Anyway, with H/I/E, I dyno'ed 198HP to the wheel and the VAFC, correctly tuned gave me an additional 6HP to the wheel. I really didn't care too much about the 6HP, but loved how they tuned it where my power curve was smoother and VTEC engagement was set to 4400RPM (gas killer BTW).

If I read this correctly, you only picked up a 6 more ponies. However, the VACF allows VTEC to engage at a lower RPM range. And what did it do to the highend RPM band.

What is the standard VTEC RPM for a TL? 4700? If so, then the key point here isn't the 6HP, but the 300 RPM sooner that you get VTEC working for you. That should be were you pick up some improved acceleration numbers.

Is this what you found out????

Actually, we found out that VTEC on the TL was engaged at 5300 rather than the 4700 that most people here claim. In any case, my powerband was all screwed up. It was something like 142HP all the way to about 4900 RPM or so then all of a sudden it jumped up to like 198HP (with I/H/E). The guys tuned it where the power band was smooth rather than the turbo effect I had. You're right, the 6 ponies didn't really make a difference I guess. The important thing was that my powerband was "fixed". Hope this helps. Oh, BTW I learned that the TL is quite different than my Bimmer, where the Germans gain most power in the middle of the band and my TL's highest power band came in way in the high RPM range.

Yup, the VTEC switch point was chosen where the HP output of the one cam profile exactly matched the HP output of the other cam profile, so that the driver wouldn't feel a jolt as the VTEC kicked in.

i saw someone with an vafc mention that it was the vafc software that raised the VTEC to 5300 as a default setting when u hooked it up. could that be true?
