Post Alignment needed or not??? Help!!!

I'm sure that this has been asked before but I've heard different things and was hoping someone could clarify it for me...I just spoke to someone over at Comptech, he told me that after installing their springs you need to get an alignment done to double check that the tow is set right or it may effect tire wear. Has anyone who has Comptech springs installed had uneven wear without an alignment? I'm installing them myself and being that I work durring the day it will be hard for me to find a place to do the alignment after work or on a Saturday. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

I don't think it's required b/c the CompTech drop is not too severe, but I think that it is recommended. You're always better off safe then sorry, so you should probably look into it.....

Thanks juniorbean. I thought it wasn't necessary but was caught off guard when they told me to do it. I noticed you live in Westchester??? I do too, I wonder if I've ever seen you around?

Its always a good idea do get the alignment checked after getting suspension work done, but its not necessary. If you do get an alignment done, wait a couple weeks to let the springs settle and then do it.

ok i wasnt going to get my alignment done either.. but i said what the hell ill just do it.. this wasnt till after 3 weeks with the springs. So i had the alignment done and WOW the car feels soo much better, I would say do it, or your tires will wear unevenly.

Possibly, I'm all over the place. I work in Harrison and live in Cortlandt Manor, so I take the Taconic, 287, Hutch, and sometimes 684. I have a light blue Acura CL 3.0. Here's a link to a picture... it's not great, but you get the idea....

I completely disagree, an alignment is abosultely necessary after getting a car dropped, and any guy who does suspension work will tell you that you need an alignment after you have suspension work done on your car, and they are 100% correct!! think about it they completely take apart your shocks and springs and then put them back together. The alignment will not be preserved.

99% of people who drop their car without getting an alignment blow their tires in weeks due to incorrect toe; not camber, and then they incorrectly blame the tire wear on the camber.

You'll survive a few days without getting the alignment, but get it done when you can, and recheck it in a month or two as it may change as the springs settle.

I got my springs at Park Ave Acura, and they recommended an alignment at the same time, so I did it. I have yet to have a problem, and the car handles great. That was about a month or so ago...
