Alarm not working

So i just finished washing/claying/waxing my car, and as I walk back in the house I try to arm the alarm, and to my surprise, the car doesnt "honk". So i check if all the doors are closed, they are. Trunk, shut... Hood? shut, too. So i try again, nothing. And the security light doesnt light up, and i tried unlocking a door from the inside and opening it, no sound... so the alarm is really not arming... WTF? it worked fine last night.

First off is this an aftermarket alarm or the factory keyless entry? IF its an aftermarket alarm you might have it in Valet Mode.

Do you see the blinking red light on when you push arm on your remote? If not, then change the battery to the remote.

You tripped it into Valet Mode. You can do that with all alarms, even aftermarket ones. To activate it or deactivate, you open the front passenger door, hit:

1. Lock
2. Unlock
3. Lock

When you hit lock for the 3rd time you will hear the sound of the locks being closed but it won't close the locks will still remain unlocked. The car is now in valet mode. To undo it, you follow the same procedure in that exact same order.

First off, are you waiting 30 seconds after the "honk". Wait 30 seconds, then open a door by hand - the alarm will sound. If you do it before 30 seconds, it will cancel the arming process.

Second you can have a bad hood switch that you won't be able to find by looking, and it will cause the alarm not to function. It will lock and unlock the doors, but there will be no "honk".

I had a similar problem before,
The problem was my Trunk Latch was sticking sometimes which prevented me from arming the car and sometimes I would get false alarms.

I the REd LED wouldn't blink either. But it did lock the doors.

Best bet is to get it checked out by your dealer

Yes let us know. If the car honks, the alarm is arming. The lack of a blinking Security Light might just be a blown LED. I had this happen to my last Accord.

I had this same problem. It turned out the alarm was not activating because the hatchback was not locking. I bought a new actuator from rockauto.com for half the price of the dealer. The part swap took about twenty minutes. The actuator is the white plastic motor that works the lock.

Alarm Not Working

Hi , I seem to have a similar issue with the alarm as well. The problem with my 08 is that when I press unlock the lights on the exterior flash and work, however when I press lock again you can hear the locks click but I get no beep and no lights on the outside. Also, my driver side security light does not flash indicating that the alarm isn't armed. Does anyone know what the problem might be ? No horns or beeps while locking or unlocking the car and lights only flash when unlocking.

You have posted in the wrong section - should be in the 3G section.

The fact it is not arming means the circuit is open. There are eight triggers/switches that need to be checked as follows
4x doors
Engine hood
Trunk
Radio
Ignition

Most common is one of the doorr switches. Make sure all are closed tightly as a start, but this may not reveal if one of the switches has gone bad.

oh my bad I wasn't paying attention. Il repost in a third gen forum. So maybe the hood latch on my 08 is messed up because it did have a minor accident with the last owner where she drove into a trailer hitch. thanks this really appreciate it.
