Airbags still may not be good?

I have a 2012 TL as well as a 2002. The 2002 has been recalled twice for airbags in the last few years. Both recalls on the 2002 were taken care of. I just got the recall on the 2012. But in reading some of the news articles about the recall, it appears that perhaps even the newer airbags installed previously that were Takata-made are still problematic because it's a design flaw - and not simply an age/temperature/humidity issue.

That's apparently why Honda is dumping Takata completely now and the newer bags will not be Takata. So while my 2012 will apparently get a non-Takata bag later this summer - what about my older car? I gave that car to my daughter - and it's not very comforting to know that there still could be issues with those airbags ....has anyone heard more about this? Does this mean there will be more recalls on the older models too now? I could not find much info on this...

Wow... Just found this article with lots of updates on the situation Massive Takata Airbag Recall: Everything You Need to Know ? News ? Car and Driver | Car and Driver Blog

Sounds like a big cluster. I wouldn't blame Honda for moving to a different supplier.

Expect more VINS from earlier years to be included, probably all of gen2 TL, as they find whats the real culprit then design a fix-
and get set up to build millions upon millions of this new whizbot- then start the new recall and re-recall process...

Send your daughter or son to a Track Day- supervised with real race drivers as coaches, learn to safely operate the car towards its limits-
Learn how to avoid airbag deployment by driving around the crash... instead of joining it~
When you know what the car will and wont do, you become confident in sudden lane changes/evasive/hard turns....
instead of brake straight ahead until SMASH!
