34, and I too am amazed at the under 25 crowd that can afford a TL. Heck, I went to college *and* worked just about full time and I was driving beaters until I was 24. And even then my first new car was a '93 Nissan Sentra SE-R.

22 turning 23. Recent College Grad but I pay the monthly payments for my car.

I miss the good old college days but if I was still in college I couldn't pay for my car.

"New" 99 TL-P after putting 205K on my Integra (poor ol' thing). Wife drives a '97 SHO.
Well, now I don't feel bad being "only" 51, durufle Like yourself, I'm amazed at the young folks driving the TL series. I guess that means we're young at heart, durufle!

BTW, I am 40 as well.

Can't speak for the rest But I Do Have a Job and mommy and daddy didn't give me My car.... Just because I am young dosen't mean I can't make MONEY....

I think that is why i spent 4 Years of My life in COLLEGE!!!!!!!!

for all you older gentlemen who wonder how us youngin's can afford a 30K car, the answer is simple...you have a mortage, we don't! Maybe some of you guys have a wife and kid(s)? We don't.
I think when my mortage starts in January I will realize what you older gentlemen are complaining about.

Physicians Assistant working Full Time in Orthopedic Surgery, and P/T in General Surgery. Occasionally Im at an office as well. Graduated and was working at age 22.

While not taking away from what anyone else here does, PA school was no cake walk, and neither is work; I pay/paid my dues.

I hate when people jump to conclusions like that. The first car salesman I went to made the mistake of patronizing me like that. He acted like if it wasnt my money that I worked for to pay for the car.

That was a big mistake on his part. Needless to say he lost the sale, and 3 referrals I sent to my salesman who all bought cars from him. He didnt make the mistake of judging a book by its cover, or jumping to conclusions. He treated me like any other person who walked in, and now says he wants to take me out to dinner for the referrals.

Well, more power to all you young folks out there driving TLs. And, BTW, I wasn't jumping to conclusions or patronizing you in any way. You work hard, Mr. Hyde, have achieved a fair amount of success at a relatively young age, and you should be congratulated for that. I still don't understand how you were able to save that much money in such a short amount of time (perhaps you shared an apartment and didn't have many expenses).

In any case, I'm trying hard to see the appeal of the TL to a crowd this young. When I was that age, I had an Integra and would've gotten a higher end 2 door sports coupe if I could've afforded it, not a rather large 4-door sedan. I agree though that the TL has alot more appeal to a younger crowd than a Buick. Now that I think about it, many of you 20-somethings probably spent your teens driving Honda civics, in which case, a higher-end Acura is a logical step up. It's amazing that the TL has such widespread appeal...

Being a youngin around here I will explain why I got the TL. I had 30 - 35 thousand to work with, I live in Virginia which gets snow and ice, therefore I looked past all the RWDs. My first car was a 1990 Acura Legend and I drove it until 200,000. The legend was in perfect condition and the only major work done to it over its life was the back seats getting re-leathered and so I was sure the TL would be a quality ride. I got my car on Memorial Day this year and plan to sell in 2 years after its all payed off and buy either an NSX or a MB (I love Mercedes but I hear a lot of complaints about faulty electrical problems. Anyhow thats the reasons I got the car.... Oh yeah, and I like the big body style

I am 19. I payed for all of my cars and mods myself without the help of anyone else. One thing I have going for me though is free rent, so it's pretty much the reason that I am able to afford three cars. I also never buy a new car, I look for a used one in good condition with low miles. I go through cars faster than most people go through socks(literally), so if I bought them new, I would lose way too much money. So far I have owned/own:

1996 Celica GT(5-speed)
1994 Celica GT(5-speed)
1995 Accord EX Coupe(5-speed)
1997 Prelude Base(5-speed)
2001 Celica GT-S(6-speed)
1999 Acurs 3.2TL(auto)

And that was all since About a month before my 17th b-day.

I think another reason why younger people can afford this car is because if you work hard enough, it's amazing how much people can make. When my dad was my age he worked 10x as hard as I work now and mad only 1/2 of what I make now. The salary base is just so much higher now. None of my friends make less then $45,000 a year and that's a new job! In the last survey I read, the average income for TL owner are about $80,000 a year, that's with a family and mortage. Does that sound about right?

They are either rich and their daddy (or mommy) bought them a nice ride (the Mercedez was a bit too much even for their standards) or they have a nice job from having worked so hard...

Either way, hay, that's the way it goes.

Interesting how what I think is a nice car (me, being a middle income type of person) is daddy's gift for a young lad.

He He He...ah well...still making my monthly payments...House, MDX, TL...girlfriend ...

Age 52. My personal car for the last 18 years was a Porsche..my wife says to get rid of it and get a "grown up's car"...so I got a 2002 Type S. I guess the grown up's are a little younger now!!

I was thinking pretty much the same way.
I wouldn't let my kids drive this car. The haven't lived long enough to appreciate it. Besides, the police impound cars for street racing around here. When the kids need to borrow a ride, they get my Tacoma NOT the TL-S!

At 54 and a gearhead since I was a little kid it's nice to know that I'm still driving a car that young people think is cool. Although my wife thinks the ride in my SSM TLS is rough. She likes her Avalon/Buicks a lot better. Maybe an S2000 when my youngest graduates college in 2 years. I've always preferred 2 seat roadsters anyway.
