Aftermarket Speakers Ok??
This may have been beaten to a pulp, but I tried to do a couple searches and couldn't find my answers. I aquired a set of Infinity door speakers and need to know if they will install okay with the factory HU and amp. Any OHM issues?? I could also use the wiring codes for + and - colors on each door if anyone has them. Thanks in advance!!

door speakers are 6.5" speakers and have a very shallow mounting depth of about 1 7/8" tops so if those infinity's don't have a thin neodymium magnet you will need spcers and that may not cut it. wiring codes i don't even know what those are. HU I believe is 4 ohms. You will be underpowering those speakers significanlt with stock HU which will damage those speakers over time and they will not sound that great. HU only puts out something like 8watts RMS(somebody correct me if i'm wrong) those Infinity's probably put out at least 40-50watts RMS. My advice would be to wait until you can get a good headunit to replace factory one and then put in all new speakers and you will notice an enormous difference in overall power and sound quality. Honestly my friend had a 01 Focus(piece of crap) and his stock stereo sounded better than mine(it was a base Focus too) Bose sucks, get rid of everything Bose and you won't be sorry.

You will be able to hook them up, you will have very bright highs because the stock bose EQ boosts the highs alot to compensate for the shitty stock bose speakers.

edit...sbuswell is correct when saying you will be 1000 times happier if you just get all new stuff. but if you want a temporary improvement, you can add your Infinity speakers right to the stock location with the stock blowse components.
