Post Aftermarket Products

Well, I am going to by a new TL-S. It will be 40% a family car, 60% my sports car. I am lucky that the dealer near me specializes in outfitting them with aftermarket accessories of your choice (usually Momo 18" wheels, Comptech headers and springs).

The wheels sound intriguing because although the TL-S is not as boring as an Accord, it definitely is and is going to continue to be a very popular car so a little something to sort of make it unique would be nice and I think 18" wheels would do the trick. However it appears the tire profile is already pretty low on the 17" stock wheels. Do the 18" wheels make the ride significantly harsher? I don't want that.

I'm not interested in the springs as the ride quality and height is just right for what I want. It makes me wonder what these people are thinking that do everything they can to improve the performance of these cars? It sounds to me like they bought the wrong car in the first place if you have to do THAT much to it.

The headers sound intriguing though as they supposedly get the car up to around 295 HP which will more than compensate in my book for not having the option of a manual transmission However $1,000 is a bit pricey and the more you add aftermarket parts the less you are going to get back as the parts depreciate more than the stock car. $1,000 is a bit pricey but I tempted to say heck this car is already a bargain, why not splurge a little. The other side says just wait and buy a true sports car later instead of trying to turn a 4-dr sedan into one.

Wondering if anyone recommends an alternative to Autoparts.com (better price or selection) and which wheel styles people thing end up looking best on the TL-S, especially for the money. (I know this is highly subjective but I like to hear opinions).

Personally I wouldnt invest in 18 inches unless it was 7.5 inches wide. My dream setup is to have an 18X7.5 rim with a 235/40 all season tires. I think after doing all the math, that that setup's margin of error is around .5% from the stock size.

Um no jcrist, not in the least bit. The main reason people do what they do to their car is to make it unique. I have added quite a bit to my car in the last 2 years, and haven't regretted it one bit. Most of the mods are cosmetic, wheels, grill, tail lights....

I can honestly say, that NO ONE in my neighborhood has as nice a TL as mine. Not a day goes by that I don't get at least 2-3 compliments on the car. What rims are those? How'd you do the grill like that? Can I sit in it?

Yeah could have bought a BMW, Audi, Mercedes...for all out performance, but I love the Acura brand. Was very happy with the car when it was stock. Now I just love to get it in and cruise.

I agree w/ NSXNEXT. I bought my TL-S w/ a spoiler, added new rims, tinted the windows and down the road want to add the body kit, headers, springs, and maybe a few other goodies. These things just help personalize the car and make it different from the other TL-S's around. And the compliments are great. Just adding the new wheels (17x8 AT Italia Flash w/ 225/50-17 Mich. Pilot XGT-Z4 -- I can send you pix if you like) and people are always stopping me or turning their heads to take a look. When you see a million of just about every car out there, it's nice to make yours a little different.
